too_pointer
Re: .270 or 30-06? I have had the 30-06 and now shoot a .270. They are pretty close in most regards. I feel a little less recoil with the .270, but I also am shooting a semi-auto. I agree with most, the 30-06 would be the way to go for ammo selection. too_
Hoosierbuck
Re: .270 or 30-06? Both cartridges use the same case, thus hold the same amount of powder. For the most part you are splitting hairs when talking about use on deer. I think someone has a good deal on a New Stainless Ruger .270 in the classifieds forum... AJ
Re: .270 or 30-06? Split the difference and get the .280 Remington. It has the benefits of both. Its basically a 7mm-06.
VermontHunter
Re: .270 or 30-06? I think the .280 gets overlooked way to often,, which to me is sad this is one heck of a caliber, and doe's a heck of a job on those varmits as well, the .280 is a YOTES worst nightmare... Born2Hunt
Re: .270 or 30-06? Can't go wrong with either. I own 3 .270 700 Bdl Remingtons. 1 is a BDL another is a BDL DM and the third is a BDL SS DM. It's an addiction
LETMGROW
Re: .270 or 30-06? I like the .06 because I can shoot from 55 grain to 220 grain bullets and almost anywhere in between.
LifeNRA
Re: .270 or 30-06? [ QUOTE ] .30-06-You can get anywhere from 125-220 grain shells. If I had to choose one cailber to hunt with the rest of my life it would be the .30-06 [/ QUOTE ] I agree, even though I own a .270 and love it! If I had only one to choose from knowning what I know now, .30-06! Has more bullet choices! You can shoot everything from varmit to the big game! ousoonerfan22
Re: .270 or 30-06? I shot a 30-06 for years and liked it,I used to reload and mainly used nosler 165gr. bullets. But one day I shot a friend's .270 and either the .270 is more accurate or I just shoot tighter groups with them,I now use a ruger no.1 .270 with 130gr. ballistic tips. Last fall I bought my son a remington 30-06(his choice) and had the local gunsmith adjust the trigger and it shoots really well.
