Jeramie
Late last year I posted about a dream area. I went to a job site in Blue Jacket, Ok and saw over 100 turkeys within a mile. It was the most turkeys ive ever seen! I called my customer to see if he knew of anyone that would allow hunting and he gave me his son's phone number. He told me his son sees at least 50 turkeys every morning. I called and called and called. All I got was some computer system wanting me to put in more numbers. I eventually gave up. About a week ago I couldnt get this out of my head. I literally had seen more wild turkeys in a mile then I had ever seen in my life! When I left that job sight I saw more crossing the road like cattle. There was far mor then 50 in that flock and I havent been the same since! I tried to call again about a week ago. I finally got a regular answering machine! I didnt leave a message but I called back later that evening.... No answer again. I tried several more times but to no avail. Finally yesterday I just left a message. My phone rang about 8:00 last night. It was him. I introduced myself and told him his dad had me call. I then asked about hunting land in the area... he said, "I guess you can come hunt my place." I was jumping up and down. I felt bad about asking just before turkey season, it starts the 6th. He asked when season started and I played dumb so I would seem to eager. I told him sometime next month and he said, "Man I wish it would have already started. These things are breeding everywhere and we have way to many turkeys around here." I cant wait! I told him I wanted to meet him and let him show me around. He is letting me hunt behind his house but the best spot is on down the road at some other land he has. He has already promissed that spot to a friend. He told me he still sees turkeys behind his house quite a bit! If I get in good with this guy I bet he will let me hunt his other place.... If not this spring probably this fall or next spring. Regardless, With the population of turkeys in this area behind his house should be just fine.....

huntinsonovagun
Re: I landed the hotspot! That's awesome Jeramie!! I went out last night...saw some fresh tracks, and walked up to a male bird (couldn't see a beard) I got 2 pics of it, but haven't put them on the PC yet. No gobbles from him Guessing it's because of the cold snap.
