LifeNRA
[ QUOTE ] OK, so I have to do a research paper on gun control for school, and I just wanted to see what your guy's thoughts were and if you think that the right to carry a concealed weapon should be banned. What do you think? [/ QUOTE ] What do I think about it being banned??? I think most gun owners would think it is foolish! Criminals do not buy their guns from gunshops. They steal them or buy from the black market! Go here www.nra.org and in the search box type "right to carry". Look over the articles and read through them and see what is going on! Try this as well! http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?ID=
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Gun Control From the FBI Uniform Crime Reports: [ QUOTE ] Violent crime rates are highest overall in states with laws severely limiting or prohibiting the carrying of concealed firearms for self-defense. [/ QUOTE ] And what gives any politician the power to tell any law abiding, mentally competent adult that they shouldn't have the right AND THE ABILITY to protect themselves and their family outside their home? The right to self defense does not end at your front door.
johnf
Re: Gun Control The right to conceal and carry a firearm hands down makes for a safer environment. Banning this would make every place as safe as Washingtod D.C. That would be great.
terry264
Re: Gun Control We are not going to have to worry about "right to carry", hunting, shooting, self defense, or anything else before long. The United Nations "Gun Grabber Groups" are at this time considering a ban on "Light Weapons". Guess what? Our hunting guns are considered "light weapons" and could be confiscated! The article in April's issue of the NRA Magazine, American Rifleman, explains this further. I guess this all goes along with arresting people who drink in bars for public intoxication before they can drive, if they were even planning to drive. Maybe the gov't. will start arresting us when we buy a car, just in case we were going to do anything illegal with it! Guess I should be watching what I say, with all the cameras etc. nowadays I'm probably already in trouble. "Big Brother is Watching"! As for the UN, don't worry about them, I bet you if they tried to impose that crap, our realtree army would kick their blue helmeted armys butt any day of the week. David_218
Re: Gun Control It is my opinion that "Gun Control" laws starting with the Gun Control Act of 1968, are totally useless. They have done nothing to prevent firearm crimes, as the criminals are going to get them anyway regardless of the laws. All these laws have accomplish is: infringe on the law abiding Gun Ownership, and interfere with the commerce of the firearms & related industry, with silly useless red tape. These laws are also a waste of taxpayer's money.

stevebeilgard
Re: Gun Control after all your research, you will find that, on a world-wide basis, the more the gun controll the higher the violent crime rate. period. in switzerland, every person over 18 is automatically in the army. go to basic training, learn guns, and take your gun home with you. guess which country has the lowest crime rate in the world. switzerland. Canadian_Goose
Re: Gun Control good point. when peole learn to respect guns and their capabilities, they often learn the responsibilities. As opposed to the "thugged out teen" i was reading about in the lounge posted by new. As for the physchos who now guns and kill with them. They are mentally ill and are going to kill anyways, whether it be with a glock or a spoon, not much we can do there except train people to protect themselves. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the world would be a better place if everyone spent some quality time in the woods.
