There are three important factors while turkey hunting. patients....patients......patients....... this could be the year.. I wish you a state record. Call sparingly, and know your land that you hunt. Have you roosted any birds?

Hang in there. I guess I was lucky as it took me about 20 minutes into my first turkey hunt ever to kill a long beard. That was twelve or thirteen years ago. Why don't you consider trying a blind. Get out do some scouting, set up a blind, and wait there all day. Set up a decoy or two also. Give it a shot it just might break the ice for ya!

Re: uhh..another turkey season

If the turkeys are in the area then patience is important. If you are not at least getting opportunities than you may need to reevaluate your setup. All of the patience in the world will not do much good if the turkeys are not in the area or they will not come to your setup. My thought is, if there are turkeys where you are hunting be persistent, but be willing to adjust your hunting tactics to achieve your desired goal, that being a delicious meal from the bird you harvested. Where to setup, calling technique (aggressive or meek), get in front of the birds to cut them off or try to call them back, these are the things that separate the good turkey hunters from the rest of the crowd. One thing is certain, if one tactic isn't working you have little to lose from changing up the game plan a bit. Good hunting, I wish you luck.
