too_pointer
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns That would stink I'm not in the buying market right now, but might in the future, and have several guns purchased there. It wouldn't surprise me though. too_
AJ
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns These rumors have been going on for years. Certain markets may drop selling firearms but I can't see all of them dropping firearms.
johnf
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns If they do in your state let me know. When they stopped selling them in California they sent every gun from California to the Store in Bentonville. They clearanced them out at rediculas pricesl 1187s for 75 buck NEFs for 25, all pump shotguns for 50 They sold over 3000 guns in 8 hours. You can look at a gun today and there is a slim chance it will be there tomorrow. They have really funneled all of the better selling models behind the counter. When the .17hmr craze hit they loaded up and sold a ton! They play their card pretty well and its effective. I couldnt imagine it would stop anytime soon. rifleman25
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns Stopped in the Walmart in Peoria, IL tonight to pick up some snacks and made my way over to the sporting goods and, yup, you guessed it, all the guns were GONE. I asked the guy at the sporting goods counter and he confirmed, at least in that store, they are no longer going to sell guns.

arrow32
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns I read somthing on another board i think it was mossy oak. And it is just certian walmarts that have a low sale of guns. And they are going to just sell a low amount of shells and things. That way they can sell more of what costumers buy more of. Just what i read.
str8shooter48
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns [ QUOTE ] I cant believe that all WallyWorld's would stop selling anything that makes them a profit [/ QUOTE ] Why push guns, not too many of them are Made in China. Like most of the other crap they sell. Buy American when you can from a good old American gun shop.

Guest okiehunter
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns I work for walmart and we were told that only the top 600 stores will continue to sell guns. For me our store is one of the top 600 so we will still carry them and the store only 7 miles down the road will not carry guns anymore. Shaun_300
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns Wal-mart up here in Canada has stopped selling guns for a long time. Same with Canadian Tire and other department stores. They never sold any nice guns anyway, but the only guns they sell now up here in those stores is paintball guns and air rifles. It probably has to do with all the stupid gun laws we have up here now.

If Spitzer is our next Gov. you can bet they will stop selling guns soon. Ranger

Guest Xen
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns walmart stores would probably do a lot better if they had somebody in the store that knew a 870 from a citori, or knew what a choke was. the funniest thing is when people walk in not knowing anything about guns and try to ask the people there for help. unless somebody happens to be walking around looking for something there and can help the customer for them, the guy will leave with a mossberg and 000 buckshot to shoot skeet with his friends for the weekend. i am sure not ALL wal-marts have this problem, but in my area, this is the case

Guest ronin
Re: Walmart to stop selling guns Walmart will reap whatever they may sow. For the most part and here in California, they have horrible training and many employees that shouldn't be around firearms to begin with. Walmart stopped selling firearms in CA because they faced millions in fines from DOJ due to illegal and/or improper sales of weapons. They had been repeatedly warned about assorted problems and failed to act on them. When confronted with deficiencies, it appears that the upper echelon simply ignored the warnings. The govenment acted and rightfully so, IMO. I am not a fan of gun control and I really hate California gun politics. However, I do believe in responsible gun ownership and, especially, responsible gun sales. When large companies abuse exisiting gun laws with abandon, it does nothing more than fan the flames already ignited. We have enough problems with gun control issues as it is. Walmart, IMO, did nothing more than make a profit off their mass-marketing capability with little to no service to the consumer other than price. Their lack of training and violations did nothing more than harm all other firearms businesses simply through association. I like a good price just as much as the next guy. However, there are plenty of excellent small dealers out there that provide a wealth of knowledge to go with a legally sold product. If price is the bottom line, there are still larger companies like Sportsmans Warehouse and Cabelas that really specialize in what they are selling. Frankly, I hope Walmart gets out of the business altogether.
