I had VermontHunter hunting my property this morning. Him being the only one out there out of the guys I allow up there. All the guys I have out there are very respectfull and call and ask everytime they plan to go out even though they have open invites. Its good so we can coordinate on whos hunting where and I know about it, etc... So he's sitting in the box stand so we can give the tree stands up in the woods a break from being hunted hard last weekend, and was watching 3 doe at 1st light about 120 yard in front of him. All of a sudden they spoke and he gets excited thinking it was a buck coming in. Then he see some guy walking along the woods line towards him from his left. Being new up there he does not know everyone but knew he was it for today. When the guy gets close enough he calls out to him and informs him the land is posted and he is tresspassing. Then before this can can say anything 3 other dudes step out of the woods and yell back to him things we can not type here. If I did it would look like: "**** *** *** ************." If ya get my meaning. They then challange him to get out of the box stand and start something, and cussed, threaten, and so on. Luke, being smart, told them he was going to inform the land owner and left. Then he PM'ed me to tell me this. I of coarse got on the phone, being at work, and told the other guys that hunt up there and one of them drove up to check it out living real close. He gets to my gate and another two guys were parked at my front gate, standing "on" the dirt road with there rifles and watching more doe out in my fields. Right in front of one of my posted signs. Bob tells them the land is posted and they do not have permission. They acted dumb about it being posted and then ask "So we can't hunt here???" Bob told then no. And they go back to there Jeep. Bob drives up to the end of dead end road to turn around and when he got back down to my gate those MF-ers were back out watching the fields. So Bob opened the gate and drove his Cherokee right out there and parked out in the fields scaring the does off. The guys then left. This land has been legally posted for 7 years now and I have not had one issue while I was out there, but then again I can't be out there 24/7 either. Only the very 1st year did I have tresspassers after posting and they tried to plead the case that for years they hunted it and so on. Ok, so what, its posted now and you no longer have permission, and I kicked them off and that was that. I dont know them by name but know its the same guys too that did it today. Had to be to know the land features and how to drive it with the 4 tier stair step ridge line that dominates the woods. Not to mention they had to cross the game wardens posted land to get to mine.. Then Bob ran into the neighbor, our game warden, who knows of these guys but gave Bob the impression that he did not care... I called the Game Warden and reported this to him on his answering machine but know there is very little anyone can do with out names or licence plate numbers, etc. I am sooooo mad!!! I hope to heck they try to pulls this crap Monday when I am out there. UPDATE: The game warden just called me before I finished posting this and said just what I thought he'd say. No name or plate numbers, nothing he can do for now but watch it. Yea right. Being rifle season he will most likley be everywhere else but near his house and my land.. LOL BUT he knows about it and if it happens again it will be a repeat offence not the 1st time. Thanks for listening to me vent... Oh and this is NOT over. If ya know what I mean.... Posted property, is posted propery! What part of that is so hard to understand. Someone owns the property ,and doesn't want anyone else on it! It would burn me up real bad too VT. I have two other guys who spend time and money on the property too to help out. Now a 3rd as of this season. But even so I let just about anyone who asks to be able to hunt within safety limits. I have turned down people but only because I was "full" at the time. Even the game warden knows this and has said so. I am about the most generous guy he knows with hunting property... Heck I can't be out there 24/7 and there are enough deer to go around. Not like I fence them in and there only enough for 4 guys. Man I am just so mad that we worked so hard and done everything right, then some bone heads just do what ever the heck they want to drive the woods over and over when we are not there... I had the same problem when we first moved up here on our property.I had to have a couple of them arrested and then word got out that I was a s.o.b. LOL I don't have too much trouble anymore. All I can say is that they were very lucky it was me and not Shawn or Bob. At the time I was so startled by the presence of three others to my right, and one directly in front of me I really was out numbered and wasn't quite sure what to do. All I could imagine was being cornered in a box blind with 4 idiots with rifles using me for a target. I'm making light if it now but at the time I was definately terified, who knows what people will do these days..and I can vouch for Vtbowmans generousity all it takes is being a man and ask him personaly for permission and that's that....now that I have rinsed my shorts out I can realx alittle..LOL Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Why not contact your state or local police and have them arrested for tresspassing seeing how your "neighbor" won't do anything? How come Bob didn't get a licence plate from the Jeep? I feel for ya, that would really upset me also. Some folks think they can hunt where ever they like, posted or not. They have no respect for the people who work on the land, pay taxes for the land, bought the land etc... They act like you are the bad guy for putting up the signs, but the truth is, its these (so called) hunters is the reason the signs go up. Bob did get that guys plate number but they were not the guys who got into it with Luke. They were seperate incidents and Bob did drive them off. Since Luke could not id these guys, and they must of parked somewhere else, we had no plate number on them. My nieghbor IS the local game warden and talked to me about this for a while. He can only "Keep and eye out" for now until we get a name or plate number and id them for sure. Until then theres nothing that can be done. [/ QUOTE ] You better believe that. I would have come out of that box stand HOT. I think I'm going to go up there tomorrow morning for a few hours with my video camera. I'm going to stand next to the road and tape every vehicle that goes up it (It's a dead end), and if I see guys on it I'll go out to "greet" them with the video camera. (warden) will not do anything about tresspassing. Unless someone breaks a game law, its a civil suit and the police are to be contacted. Now where I live, there is no township, city, local police...its the State Trooper that I call. If you can't get results from the Police (esp. if you have name, plate # or anything) then contact an attorney and let him deal with your police. I do own land and its posted, I also found out that you have to be firm with them or they will just keep coming back. If I had a plate# of anyone tresspassing, I'd do the research and make sure they know that I know who they are and where they live. They prob. wouldn't come back then. The Game wardens will step in and do something but not unless you have something concrete, like a plate number or a name. Bob, I, and the game warden took an old crazy lady to court last year for her sending her dog out to scatter deer last year while Bob was hunting. Bob chased her down and got her plate #. Damm lady got off on sympathy, which we still can't figure out, but the point is our Game Warden will do something. Like Bob said, your best weapon against this is photos, or video is even better. I guess us land owner need to hunt packing a video crew now too.. . Like someone said, being FIRM with these fools will deter the punks but some groups of guys think they own the town and will do what they want. Laws and signs and court does not scare them. "Been there-done that" "Will do it again" -is there motto. Messing with there personal property can only start a war... I understand how some feel there is nothing you can do. I figure the more peolpe I take to court over this type of crap, the less they will bother with my land in the future. Being an S.O.B. doesn't hurt either. At least they know your serious if you stand up to the group of them alone... Within reason that is. No need to start a gun fight or a deer, or an ice fishing spot...
