I'm buying the Omega ML BDC-250 to mount on my new Omega ML and was thinking of doing it myself. I have Thompson QR rings and base, both camo. Any info or advice welcomed. Thanks grin.gif

Re: Did you mount your scope?

Nope, but I use to. I mounted my own for years. A local gun smith/ pawn shop will mount the scope (with you standing there) and bore sight the scope using a leupold sight ding a magood.

Grand total $4

While he's doing it, he hands the rifle back to you for you to check the crosshairs, eye relief, etc. With all the word he puts in and for the price, I cant justify doing it myself.

Re: Did you mount your scope?

I only do my own. I don't trust most gun shop workers to work on my guns. With a one piece mount, its pretty easy to do. I would do a dry run without torquing the screws. Then, if you are happy, disassemble everything, clean and degrease the screws and holes, and reassemble with blue locktite torquing the screws to specs. Usually, it is 20 in/lbs for bases and 13 in/lbs for ring screws.

Re: Did you mount your scope?

Yes, and have found that a reticle leveling device such as

the one sold by Sinclair Int'l to save a lot of headaches

later on. Some rings will pull a scope one way or the

other during the tightening process (Weaver rings are

TERRIBLE about this), and the leveler helps both before

and after everything is tight.
