You heat the field tip, while it's in the insert for about 3 to 6 seconds, and then try to turn it and removed it. At no time should you heat the shaft directly. If it won't come after the first try, heat it again for 3 or 4 seconds, and so on. Same with putting them in...have the insert screwed on to a field tip, and hold it with a pair of pliers. Heat the insert that way until the glue melts on, and then insert it into the carbon and bed it. It can be awkward using pliers.
