Guest danewguy
If you don't have the E-Z tip extractor you will have to remove the forearm. When you remove it and open the action you will see a small set screw on the right side of the barrel near the bottom. If you loosen that the extractor will slide out and you will be able to remove the breech plug. I reccommend in the long run that if you are going to shoot very much that you switch the E-Z tip, it costs about $17 but it saves you a lot of trouble in the long run. Hope this helps... tedicast
Re: Help with TC Encore I bought an EZ Extractor for my Encore, and it was definately worth it. I don't know why they don't just putthem on the gun at the factory. It is great if you ever have to remove the breechplug at the range. tedicast
Re: Help with TC Encore The extractor just raises the primer up a bit so you don't have to pick at it to remove it. Maybe not a big deal at the range, but if you have a late muzzle loader season, and you are wearing heavy gloves, it comes in handy. I have heard people say that the primers fall right out of an encore without the extractor. I have never shot mine without it.
timberghost
Re: Help with TC Encore I have had my Encore for 3 years now and I removed the extracto before ever firing the gun. I just break the gun open, turn it to the side and the primer just falls out. I've never had one stick! I would try at the range first though. Don't want one getting stuck when you need a follow up shot ASAP in the field! Good Luck.
str8shooter48
Re: Help with TC Encore I removed my extactor last year. I've been using Winchester 209 primers never had a problem with sticking or removing them. Good Luck
ScottyLuck
Re: Help with TC Encore I use the Win 209 primers as well and have had some sticking problems even with the extractor still in the gun. I tried one of the E-Z tip extractors and broke the screw after a couple of uses. I have also heard the some people that have removed the extractor altogether have had more blowback problems than those who havenot removed. Don't know if it's releated and, also, it's what I've heard not what I've experienced.
Guest RandyWakeman
Re: Help with TC Encore [ QUOTE ] i was wondering if the extractor is even needed in the gun?? What exactly does it do?? [/ QUOTE ] It prevents carbon from migrating into the action by positively locating the 209 primer, and precludes the posibility of sticking a primer-- which can, and does happen without it.
