NiteRunner
I started the Youth Gun Season with a Bang, 3 actually. I'll go into detail. Arrived to my Dad and I's Hot Spot at 7:15am Saturday Morning for the Youth Gun Season. Nearly 8:00am my Dad decides he'll try and drive me some. 5 Minutes after my Dad leaves I seen a Doe headed the way my Dad left, I want a Buck not a Doe. After a half hour 2 does sneak around on my left, and then a Buck right after them, they were just over a hill so I moved more that way. 5 minutes later I here a Grunt and then Brush cracking, And more and More of grunts and brush! Then through the brush I see the head of a doe coming my way, Better yet a REAL NICE BUCK on her heels, and a smaller one behind them. They run out of the brush and I get off a shot, miss, Tried again but a miss. I thought they were going to duck down the hill when the doe turns and crosses a strip of open grass. Too Perfect! The buck follows and there goes my last shot. Down He GO'S! He rolls and then still as can be. I grab the 2 way radio from my pocket and tell my Dad I had one down. I then reach into my pocket and grab some more slugs. The little Buck that was 20 yards from me takes off looking for the doe, and Then My Buck takes off! I'm hurrying trying to load my gun when I lose sight of him. We found blood where I dropped him and we tracked him down to a creek and that's where we lost the Blood Trail. I couldn't believe it! My Dad thinks I might have taken out a leg, hopefully I'll be able to finish the deal tomorrow. And if not Gun season starts the 29th and someone should get him. Told you I dropped one, I just couldn't keep him there. Laura
NiteRunner
Re: I Got A Good One Down! Thanks, but we were unable to find him. I think if the wasn't around he would have bedded in a swamp near by, but the doe will keep him up.
