SuperMn106
Re: Fishing Trip Thursday!! huntin girl we are actual using pink, green or yellow yarn tied on a treble hook lol. they have been caught on yarn, colored sponge, salmon eggs and then worms. I am now thinking about keeping some and tryin some different recipes other than smoking them. I looked up the state record here and it is almost 13 lbs. . do you have any good recipes for me to try? [/ QUOTE ] Colored yarn???? And a treble hook??? Must be a small treble hook!?! Ummm......as far as recipes, we just filet them, gash them and fry them. ( Seasoned with Zatarain's Seasoning of course) Lots of salt and pepper. Are they biting these hooks or are you snatching them??
SuperMn106
Re: Fishing Trip Thursday!! they are #6 size, yeah they bite them, you might snag one out of 10. just cast it up river and let it drift down, when there is tension just set the hook. when they are running good, you can catch 100 fish in 3-4 hrs. Guest Andrea
Re: Fishing Trip Thursday!! Interesting.....................how do you keep the hooks from hanging up on everything on the bottom of the river??
SuperMn106
Re: Fishing Trip Thursday!! Take some split shots and put them up on the line a bit so when it drifts its about a foot or so off the bottom. sometimes you will get snagged on some branches and logs. there is also some big walleye in the river but they are out of season. Last week a guy caught a 12 lber.
