rifleman25
How does the Leupold VXI compare to the Nikon Buckmaster?
snapper
Re: Scope question Great warrenty on both...but I would highly recommend the Buckmaster over a VXI. Just my opinion. Heck, I even may take a Nikon Pro-staff over the VXI.

wtnhunt
Re: Scope question Dont know how true it is, but read somewhere that the nikon buckmaster is comparable in performance to the VXII.
too_pointer
Re: Scope question I have 5 Nikon scopes, 3 buckmasters, 2 ProStaff, and they have always worked great for me. For the money they cost, they are great scopes too_
rifleman25
Re: Scope question At my local gun shop the VXI is the same price as the buckmaster. Thats why I ask. I'm in the market to purchase a pair of scopes this summer and want to know how they compare and maybe why you like one or the other. snapper
Re: Scope question [ QUOTE ] Why is that? [/ QUOTE ] I have a few Nikon scopes (Pro-staff's and Buckmaster)....besides price, I can't see much difference between them and my Luepold VXII. If your local gun shop is charging the same price...he/she is making a little more money on the Buckmasters. My cost on a 3-9X40 is about $20 difference...the Nikon being cheaper than the VXI. Heck, I can't even get a Leupold Rifleman for the same money as a Nikon Buckmaster and the Rifleman is Leupold's low end scope! Either way...they are both good scopes and really won't have any probs. with either one. Buy the one you like the better.
rifleman25
Re: Scope question Well It's not exactly the same price. There is a 15 dollar difference but thats close enough to being the same considering it would cost me more in gas to save that much going to the next closest shop. Are the two of similar grade and quality?
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: Scope question Rifleman-------I scan different sites for their classified sections. You'll usually see Leupold VarX II going for 170 - 185 range. The new VX II will be around 210. With a Leuopld it's a lifetime warranty for the scope not the buyer. Just seems like a better deal. I picked up a VX II 3x9 40 mm with bulter creek caps for $210 a couple months ago. It's a $300 scope without the caps new. Just an idea. CB Also the VXII & Monark are in the same class. The VXII and the buckmaster scopes are of equal quality. I have not seen any leupold vari X II scopes priced in the same price range as the nikon.
