RangerClay
Some of my ATV tires have a slow leak. If I don't use the machine for month, two of the tires will be flat. Should I take the tires in to be fixed or is there someway for me to fix them myself? Ranger
Guest MIhillbilly
Re: Fixing ATV tires If it's that slow of a leak it will be hard to find. You could start by installing new valve inserts just in case that's where the slow leak is coming from. Otherwise, you could put some sealant in the tires. "Slime" is one brand that comes to mind. It's a green goo that you put in your tire and it coats and seals from the inside.
Gator
Re: Fixing ATV tires Like MIhillbilly said, try some "SLIME" I did that to my riding mower, and have yet to have any more problems.
texastrophies
Re: Fixing ATV tires SLIME is goood, until you go to put new tires on it. lol SLIME it, that's what I do. Most WALMART's carry it.
Jeramie
Re: Fixing ATV tires Yep, green slime. It will amost fill holes big enough to see through! Good stuff!
vagobbln
Re: Fixing ATV tires Agree with these guys. I had the same problem you do. Slow leak. Slimed it and haven't had a problem since. Make sure you ride it around a bit after you put it in the tire to coat it evenly.
AaronS
Re: Fixing ATV tires Slime here too. I had a rear 589 leaking at the rim on my Rubicon. I slimed them and haven't had a leak in 3 years.
Jeramie
Re: Fixing ATV tires I have an old quad that sat for years and years. The tires literally dry cracked. I used slime and theyve been holding air for about 2-years now.
RangerClay
Re: Fixing ATV tires Wow! I guess Slime is the magic stuff. I will pick up a can this weekend. I just inherited a 1983 Honda Big Red with less than 100 hours on it. Looks like it's brand new. I'm taking it to the Honda shop tomorrow to get the carb cleaned up. Thank you everyone for your help!! Ranger

Shaun_300
Re: Fixing ATV tires You can find the leak by spraying soapy water over the tire, you'll see bubbles where the tire is leaking. The bigger the bubbles are, the bigger the leak. If it's a REALLY small leak, it will foam. This is how we leak test them at work, I'm a mechanic at a GM dealer. It may be leaking around the rim, you could dismount the tire and put some bead sealer around where the bead of the tire sits on the rim. wtnhunt
Re: Fixing ATV tires Think the reason why it may be worth some money, is because it is hard to find any three wheelers in good condition. Think most manufacturers quit making them in the mid to late 80's. The big red was a pretty popular bike among three wheelers if I remember right, which would probably make for it being worth even more if it is in good condition. lil hunter
Re: Fixing ATV tires watch ebay. Mint condition 3 wheelers are regularly selling on there for $5000+ They are fairly rare and it is basicly a collectors item if its in great shape. The machine only has about 100 hours on it but it's not in mint condition. Thanks Ranger

[/ QUOTE ] $20.00 bucks?!?!?!? lmbo!!! You might get one tire that size for $50.00. Those babies don't come cheap! "Bo" ... p.s. Ranger; that machine is in VERY good shape!!! It may not fetch $5000.00 but I'll bet you'd be surprised what folks would spend on that! I know they really look for them down here in NC. My son rebuilt one he bought and a guy offered him a Grand for it.... needless to say....he don't have it anymore.....but his wallet was tight for a couple weeks! Be Good! "Bo" ...
