Name will be Roscoe. Some things are meant to be.

This is the puppy I rescued that had taken refuge under Annabelle's barn. Three previous attempts by others to catch him had failed. He wasn't supposed to be there, the afternoon I got there. Why I was able to catch him when other able bodied folks couldn't, just means it was meant to be. He came right to me. He had been eating worms and grubs, for over a week for sure. I found the holes he had dug. He was so skinny his hip bones looked like Football goal posts. His backbone stuck out like a stegasaraus. Vet said he tested positive for every parasite in the area. He had more worms than a bait store. I could hear coyotes howling near the barn. If they had caught him, he'd be dead. A sick 5 month old puppy has no chance against a bunch of territorial coyotes.

The pup wasn't supposed to be there anymore. It had been a week since he was first sited. Amazingly, he was still there. He survived capture attempts, coyotes, starvation and parasites. I shouldn't have been able to catch him. I did. I contacted a friend (Keith) who had mentioned recently he had been thinking about getting a dog. In fact, he had just missed out on adopting one he wanted at the pound because someone else adopted it first. Apparently there was another dog planned for him. His horoscope that morning said, "Meet with friends tonight for a life changing experience." When something looks that meant to be. It is a gift from God. You are wise not to refuse it.

Keith came to look at him that night. I assured him that even though the pup looked pretty hideous right now a couple days of the right food and medicine would make a drastic difference. I don't know if he believed me or not but he decided to pick him up in about a week. I told Keith, this is gonna be one different looking dog when you come back.

I've been calling him Willy as first suggested by Keith. But Keith has since changed his mind. Now he's apparently settled on calling him Roscoe. Roscoe's doing great. He gained 1 1/2 pounds in under a week. Looks a whole lot better. Probably got some Shepard in him. Certainly is smart like one. Very happy puppy right now. And absolutely as sweet as he looks.

Check out Roscoe's picture. His new Daddy took him home last night. This is going to be one very good looking dog!
