Re: Eric Gagne and MCH\'s hopes and dreams...

Ned Colleti knew that Gagne's surgery was likely. He'll be out 6 to 8 weeks. Meanwhile, we've got Baez who saved 41 games for the Devil Rays last year. 41 games for a team that won 70???? We're not hurting at all.

We've scored 28 runs in our first four games. Against good teams, also(23 vs. braves and 5 vs. phillies). Even without Gagne we have one of the best bullpen's in the NL. With three potential closers, we're not losing a bit of steam.

Gagne's on the last year in his contract I believe. I'd hate to see him go, but if he doesn't prove that he can pitch like his old self, then bye bye. Closers are a dime a dozen. He was the best at one time and maybe he can be again.

way to keep it positive Kev, but...lets be real, you wouldn't mind seeing him at the back of that bullpen, 100% healthy.

No doubt there, Eric. I would love to have the old "Game Over" anchoring my bullpen. That was one of the many injuries last year that doomed our season.

Colleti saw what happened, though, and he's made some moves that will hopefully ensure that lightening won't strike twice.

Gagne goes down, Baez steps in and hasn't missed a step.

Nomar goes on the DL, Loney and Saenz platoon and produce.

We've got several young players capable of starting right now if necessary and we've got a few versatile veterans on the bench.

My only concern with the Dodgers is our starting pitching. I think Penny will be our ace this year and for years to come, but the jury's still out on Lowe and especially Perez. Perez had one good year and the only reason he's still on our staff is because he throws from the left side of the rubber.

I will give you some investment advice, though. Go out and buy a Chad Billingsley rookie card. The kid will make his debut this year. He reminds me of another Kevin Brown.....HEALTHY Kevin Brown that is. He has three major league pitches and is as clutch as they get. I'm pretty sure Cooperstown is already getting him a spot ready....grin.gif

You remind me of some Dodgers fan we have in here. I believe his name is Kevin. He was ranting and raving about him beating me up in our fantasy league last Monday and Tuesday when I calmly reminded him time after time that there was a long way to go in the week and that I would eventually overtake and conquer. Well wouldn't you know it, this morning rolls around and look who won the week 1 matchup. Thats right.....ME.

So my friend tominator, I will repeat.....there is a long long way to go this season, but in the end I will be victorious. laugh.gif

Re: Eric Gagne and MCH\'s hopes and dreams...

He neglects to mention that I have 3 starting pitchers on the DL AND that my team is loaded with Yankees who struggled this opening week.

He snuck in and took the lead on the last day, the only day that really counts.grin.gifgrin.gif

I'll be healthy next time we play.

Yeah they really struggled, only scored about 50 runs in the first week. Next time make it to the draft so you can pick your own team.

I dont want to hear about the pitching either, my team ERA was like 7. crazy.gifgrin.gif

You will have a different outcome this week, trust me grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

I know.

Hey, I restrained myself all week. Except for the 479 post.

And, I just had to get the Professor Owl Tootsie Pops commercial reference in there, cuz, well, I crack myself up sometimes.

What did Eric say?
