woodsman2230
Today I was out scouting for turkeys and I saw a couple FRESH deer rubs! Can anyone explain this? I didnt think that they would rub this time of year.
buckshot_09
Re: Rubbing Still?? the only reason i can think of is that they obviously still have antlers, so they with the new ones trying to grow, it's causing them some discomfort? i can't think of any other reason! wtnhunt
Re: Rubbing Still?? Dont know. Saw fresh rubs into February here, and thought that was kind of late. Dont think any bucks around here are left still carrying antlers.

Squirrelhunter91
Re: Rubbing Still?? Something I can think of is that the cold temps of the winter preserved the rubs when the trees went dormant. Now that it is Spring, the trees are beginning to bloom again and " come alive ", therefore making the rubs look fresh.

Guest generallee
Re: Rubbing Still?? i know there are a few places that buck are still sporting horns......my cousin called me last night from wisconsin and told me he saw a small buck still with its full head gear while he was deer shining his property. Thats weird to me, b/c ususally they drop up there before they do around where i live.

puffy
Re: Rubbing Still?? Maybe they are trying to rid themselves of the old antlers that haven't dropped off. There are weirder things happening every year that goes by. Late rut and not hot and heavy, change in weather patterns in general, Deer carrying horns later and later. Makes you re-think strategies and try new ideas to make things work.
