Michelle's first turkeys

Michelle and I planned to hunt Saturday morning April the 8th. The day before the sky turned red with dust and the temps dropped from 85 to 55 in 3 hours with winds blowing 28 to 43 mph. We got up at 5 am. to get ready and it was in the 40's with high winds ,so we decided to get a little more rest and go out at mid morning! We tried calling one place and didn't get a gobble,we hit the next one and saw three strutters ,but they were henned up and going the other way! So we moved to another place and tried some more.We got a gobble right away and set up to call him in,but he never came .So we moved around to the other side and worked him some more .He was on a hill top, that we couldn't get close to with out getting busted. So we just sat tight and called,2 hours later two jakes came in and I told Michelle that if she wanted to she could take'em we'd get the other bird next time!

They got into position for a good shot at 32 yards, when Michelle shot the first one,the second one came back to flog the first one a little and he got more than he bargained for ! That Hevi 13 has a mean bite!

These were her first turkeys and she was pretty excited!
