Gus
but I still got to shoot something. I got set up on some birds, but they flew across the creek and into the pasture which I didn't think they would go to. After they hit the ground they would answer my calling, but wouldn't leave their hens. So I got in the creek and up to the fence where I could see which direction they were headed. They looked like they were headed to the little water hole on the other end of the field, so I got back in the creek and headed that direction. Got to the other end and they were still coming, so I just crawled up under a cedar tree and was going to wait for them to come within range. I could see 3 toms strutting around and about 10 hens. They got about 50 yards from me and the hens in front started heading the other direction in a hurry. I looked to my right and seen this coyote trying to sneak in and get a turkey breakfast. I started lip sqeaking and she turned and was coming right at me, when she got about 10 yards away she put the brakes on and I pulled the trigger. Gus
Re: Ruined Turkey Hunt Tried finding the birds after I shot, but couldn't get a gobble no where on our place again that morning. Saturday afternoon I heard a few, but couldn't get them to come in. Not sure what their route back to the roost is, but I made it back to the cabin right at dark and I could hear the birds back down by the creek. So maybe this weekend I will get them coming my way again.

Gus
Re: Ruined Turkey Hunt Went to a different spot this morning and seen 2 yotes crossing a small open field headed towards the brush. I guess they must have seen me before I seen them because I couldn't get them to come back towards me. I didn't see them again after they got in the brush
