Guest PAT_PATTERSON
I've tried it a couple of times, when in rut bucks (small ones) would smell around it and doe's would take off. You could always ask Tink himself for suggestions on it's use. Like-able old coot and always willing to help out a bow hunter. He usually stays on either Archery Talk or Bowsite.com AfricanBowhunter send him a PM and he will tell you anything you want to know about it. wtnhunt
Re: tinks 69 Scents do work at the right time when used right. Depends on when and how you are using it. If you are not careful with your setup and have contamination of the scent it will not be effective. Also I kind of think if others in your area are using the same scent nearby and they have used it a bit earlier on than you, the deer might possibly be educated to that scent being associated with humans. Tominator
Re: tinks 69 Don't know. Maybe you don't have too many bucks in your area. I've always had decent results with it. I can actually credit 2 of my biggest bucks to Tinks playing a role in some way. It doesn't work all the time, but out of all the stuff I've used, it is the most consistent. David_218
Re: tinks 69 I use "Tink 69" each Deer season and had very good results. What I do is place about 3 oz in a Drip Bag, make a "mock scrape" and place the drip bag about a week before Gun Season. If there are any buck around they come to it. AaronS
Re: tinks 69 I've never had much luck with it, but I probably suffer from the problem Tominator mentioned. Low buck density. Drats.
rossman
Re: tinks 69 I've never had luck with any doe in heat or estrous lures. It only seems to scare the deer away. The only lure that has worked for me is the "buck lure supreme". I think HS scents makes it? It's a curiosity lure. I've killed three bucks with it over the years. I don't use scents anymore, I have better luck without them!!! --rossman
drkillemquick
Re: tinks 69 Use Tinks and love it, had bucks get REALLY close without knowing I am there they are so preoccupied with the scent. Shot bucks every year for the last 5 years thanks to using scents. Some day they just don't respond to it, and other days they just come marching right into it! By the way welcome to the forums!!!!! Mirage
Re: tinks 69 I use and stand behind tink69. It works GREAT. I grunted in a buck this past season, From along way off, he got close then stepped out from behind a bunch of braches, and i didnt relize he was so close so i grunted again and he looked toward me but the tinks 69 i put out had him mezmorized and all he wanted was that bottle hanging above his head, so i got him. I got many other examples of how great that stuff works. I do beleive it goes bad over time and new product is needed after its a year old though [image][/image] Here he is

MUDRUNNER
Re: tinks 69 It has worked for me.I've actually had a buck pull off my scent bomb and chew on it.It works as long as it used at the right time, under the right conditions. It seems like once a buck is spooked (like during shotgun season here in Illinois) the scents aren't as effective, and may spook deer.I use scent bombs, and also will put it in scrapes. gitcha_some
Re: tinks 69 it all has to do with timing, and the buck...it really isnt anything about the scents
Mirage
Re: tinks 69 hey i also read that you should not leave the scents out over night or when your not there,by the spot you plan to hunt because if a buck comes by when your not there he probably will not come back to check the same scent again and it may make him wise to it
Bowhntr
Re: tinks 69 Not a huge fan of scents or using them. I have and I will but I never really have much luck with them. To me the best scent is no scent at all. I try to stay as scent free as possible and just let it go at that most of the time.
hunterDWL
Re: tinks 69 i agree with you bowhntr i think attraction scents are a waste of money i do belive in cover and elimantior scents
Rhino
Re: tinks 69 I haven't had much luck with it either. When I have, its been younger bucks. I haven't used any kind of estrus scent in years now. Maybe success with estrus scents is an area or pressure dependent thing. I was in Iowa several years back and Richard Dean was hunting with a camera crew. On the 4th day of his hunt they had a nice buck come in trailing them where they had dragged a scent rag of Tinks and Richard put an arrow through that one. They got the whole sequence on video including the buck, nose down following their scent trail. Personally, I'm with Bowhntr. JMO but the best scent is no scent at all and be as scent free as possible. With as much deer movement that occurs, especially nocturnal, throughout the area you're hunting there is no telling how much fresh scent has been laid down by real deer around your stand by the time you get there. Better to choose choice stand locations, especially during the rut to put yourself in position close to where deer want to travel anyway and be as scent free as possible. Just my $.02. Guest Finn
Re: tinks 69 I just try be scent free. At $10 + a bottle, none of it seems to work enough for me to keep spending money on.
David_218
Re: tinks 69 What is really funny, is some Hunters use things like "Apple scents" and other things that are not present, in the area they hunt. The Deer smell these strange scents and are spooked.
