Re: Just wondering

I was on empty this morning. Only put in $20 worth and it went up to a 1/4 of a tank.

The news this morning said it would go up to $3.00 a gal. by summer. But it jumped up .10 cents in 7 days here, so I see it hitting that $3 mark waaaaay before summertime.

Time to saddle up the mule. crazy.gifgrin.gif

Yep...we've been kind of expected it to hit 3 bucks!

Re: Just wondering

I have to ask......why is it that everyone and their brother will go after the government when it comes to some issues, but you hear absolutely nothing about protests on the whitehouse lawn over the rise of gas prices.......they're putting into another depression, and they don't seem to care as long as they're making money.

That was something else that was hit on---on the news this morning. President Bush has his LOWEST approval rating EVER....because of his unwillingness to do something about the rising price of gas.

That and the illegal immigrant issue. mad.gif

Re: Just wondering

There are four factors that are immdeiately effecting prices at this time.

1. The refineries are switching from winter to summer blends and that causes a short term shortage every year at about this time. Prices usually go up about .08 - .12 because of that, then come back down about June 1.

2. New environmental regulations just kicked in that cause the price of refining to go up. Blame whoever you want to for that.

3. Hugo Chavez (el Presidente de Venezuela) is still claiming he is going to cut off all exports to the U.S. unless we all proclaim him "Supreme Dictator of the Entire World for Life and Official Good Guy" or something asinine like that.

4. Much of the Middle East is pitching a hissy fit because, so far, President Bush has refused (correctly, IMHO) to completely rule out the option of a nuke strike against Iran if they continue to openly pursue creating their own nuclear arsenal.

Re: Just wondering

2.59 here. I'm proud of my Ford pwrestroke getting 18 MPG while the wive and her 3/4 ton suburban are at 12. We need to add a compact or mid size to our fleet one of these days but we've been saying that for a long time. I guess if the prices were hurting us too bad we'd just quit driving eh?
