hutchies
How about a board that is restricted to adults only with a password. Anything we don't want the kids to see we could talk about in there.

BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: How about a Truece? Its an opinion by one person your kids are gonna have to learn how to make choice in life ... the topics ion these forum are pretty insigificant to the choices that they are gonna have to make when they get older and mature ... the key is to have your kids instructed in what is right and wrong and if they dont know then ask ... yeah I know that is a mouthful but as parents that is our ultimate goal ... nobody wants there kid to chew or do drugs for sure ... but sooner or later it is going to be a choice that they have to make... we as paretns have to train them how to handle the situations as they arise... NYBUCK
Re: How about a Truece? Hutchies, I kinda like your idea. This is getting out of control. I understand and trust me I love this site, but sensorship is running amuk in our society and all because parents don't own up to being parents. I was going to write into the above post but now I see it has been locked. If it is right or wrong, not for me to decide. And I do chew, started about three years ago for some dumb reason. Never smoked or did drugs, just decide to start chewing. Well after reading the post about how many do it and what kind, I also read all the ones that said how bad it is and saw all the pics. Well I am going to quit!!!! I went all day yesterday with-out a dip and it was because of that post. Everytime I grab for it I think about the pics and what Tominator said. So maybe some kid will read the post and see what it can do to you and never do it. That is what is so great about this forum, many different opinions. Lets not fall victim to society's downfalls. We need to keep open minds and when something iswrong, there will be plenty in here that will tell you.
BowJoe
Re: How about a Truece? Was the tobacco post locked or something? I think it is becoming to PC in here. Disagree with me if you like but I think if you can watch a movie or a television show and be almost shocked to see people smoking then you've become accustomed to PC. I think we should keep it to common sense in here. As long as you aren't being mean, cussing, posting porn, talking sex or just plain being a pain in the butt you should be able to post simple topics and questions in here. If you have to think whether you are offended and then try to convince others to feel as offended as you are then it's time to stop being so danged picky and post on what you know. Just my oppinion and you can take it or leave it unless I am too Non-PC for ya.
BowJoe
Re: How about a Truece? Somebody should make a sticky that says kids, don't try this at home or a caution that most of what is read in here in adult orientated and that if their parents feel it's too adult in here then they need to restrict what their kids go to. I don't think I have ever seen a post in here that was inappropriate so that is a feather in the hat of the mods and folks running this shindig. Keep common sense in here and drop the PC BS. Let the kids know that mainly what we like to discuss is everyday life of adults and that includes anything from pictures of your babys to pictures of cancer of the mouth. We don't cuss, there's a block on foul language and we police ourselves pretty dang good. If you have a problem with a post then inform a moderator and the person you have a problem with. Don't try to pick a fight just so you have support for your silly idea. I am sure that if it said "Posting of Tobacco, Alcohol and general adult themes is Strictly Prohibited" then no one would post it in here. But it didn't and now some one has found yet another thing to divide sports men and women about just because you got offended. Notice no one else said they were offended until you said you were. Just growup and stop with the PC Big City BS.

mossyhorn
Re: How about a Truece? I dont think an adults only part would be good but I also dont think we should freak because someone post about chew. We are ranking chewing and smoking up there with drinking and drugs. Yeah i know there are people worried about thier kids seeing the post but the parents should be there to tell them not to do it. One post is not going to change the effect that you have on your children. Tell them it is bad, you dont want them doing it. I dont thinking they will argue back and say "But the peach stuff is great, I read it."

Failed as members and failed as moderators. There is nothing wrong with discussing most topics in a civilized, accountable and adult fashion. It's when we start being bad examples to the younger folks in here, that we fail. This is a Family web-site, not an adult only forum, and it never will be. Realtree would close it down completely, rather than see it go the other way. If some of you want an adult only forum, then there are plenty of them out there...take your pick. BowJoe
Re: How about a Truece? I don't recall ever saying I wanted it to be an adult only forum. I don't ever recall saying it should be an adult forum either. I am just saying that if people want to be PC about everything in this forum then we are all guilty of breaking the rules by talking about killing animals and describing in detail the shot and what vitals it hit. If you say that's a family thing and the parent should decide that subject then you just made my point for me. Same with tobacco. If you say it's not family to discuss chewing then I say maybe just not in your family. Some dad's chew and that's where their kids learn it. I just think we are being too naive in thinking kids don't know the difference and what is adult and what is not. This all started over a post about tobacco. Not smoking (which has been posted) but smokeless tobacco. I know it's just as bad but it's something kids see in every store they enter and in the same hunting and fishing mags we all read. I've even seen it in realtree videos. I can even find you a picture with cigarettes, Jim Beam and Dip and realtree. I just think it's being too picky and too almighty to say it's okay everywhere else including realtree videos and hunting mags but not here in a forum where no one has ever said it's ok to do or tried to get anyone else to do. I won't post anymore on the subject but I just want to know where the final word stands. Is it ok in the eyes of Realtree as a passive topic or not? Can't we just try to stop this petty bickering over harmless topics? If you are so sensitive as to get offended by a simple post about tobacco then I apologize on behalf of all the advertisers and NASCAR and every other family oriented thing that happens to mention or show a can of skoal, or beer or cigarettes. It's things like this that chased Winston out of NASCAR. JMO

Over 50% of the discussion on my topic took place after I logged off at 2:30pm yesterday and now I cannot respond because it got locked by the Mods. Is that discussion or censorship??
