I will try and do this with out a lot of typos ... I know it drives tominator crazy lol

As you all know I went over to Omaha to see Dakota and his parents .... and what a day I had ... my wife wanted to go so she went over with me ... Dakota was so excited when we got there I could see the energy in his eyes ...

When I arrived at Dakotas room he was of course on the laptop cathin up on all the action on the Realtree forums ... guys he trully loves these forums!

You talk about a blessing with all the stuff he has gone through there wasn't a down moment the whole time we were there ... Dakota buddy I am so proud of you for the testimony you show... your personality is awesome for everything you went through what a blessing you have been to me and my wife.

With the money we got from the members we were able to get Dakota a gift card to Bass Pro shops for $50, while we were there we got him a RT turkey hunting DVD, and last night we got him a Team Realtree hat and a T-shirt that has the silouette of an elk behind the phrase "Got ELk". You guys came through in a big way and I am so happy to be a part of these forums with you all ... This is what these forums are all about ... Dakota already has some plans for the gift card he said ...

Heres an email update I got from Chuck this afternoon

Hi all,

[ QUOTE ]

The doctors have decided to go ahead and give Dakota a permanent pacemaker. His threshold - point where the pacemaker stops and his heart kicks in - is rising which means his dependency on the pacemaker is increasing. They feel that even if this improved in the next few days it could return suddenly later on and that wouldn't be good. They're going to try and do the operation tomorrow (Thur) and he'll spend a few more days in the hospital to make sure it's working like it should. He still has orders to stay in bed at this time.

Dakota had another nice surprise today! One of the guys from the Real Tree web site hunting forum came from DeMoines, Iowa to deliver a care package from the guys who participate on the forum. Gave him a card that was signed by the guys, a Team Real Tree cap, a T-shirt that says "Got Elk", a turkey hunting DVD, and a $50 gift certificate to Bass Pro Shops! Dakota was overwhelmed by the gifts and looked like he was able to climb a mountain! He previously wasn't having such a good day because they had to poke him about 3 times in differents spots to draw some blood. We had a great time visiting and eating lunch with Steve (who delivered the gifts) and his wife Kimberly! We've made such good friends since we've been down here!

Thats not the whole Email but that is the majority of it and it updates you on the medical side of his stay in the hospital.

Here are some pictures from todays visit I didn't take many because I didnt want to put too much stress on Dakota ....

Re: My day with Dakota

Dakota' dad, Chuck here. Steve and guys, you really made this day one we will NEVER forget - and I'm STILL smiling Steve! As I'm typing this late in the evening (or is it early in the morning?) in Dakota's ICU room, he is sleeping soundly and peacefully. Thanks all, you are the best!!
