Lenten Sacrifices... How did you do?

I was a bad boy and gave into my cravings. With Lent so close to an end, how are you doing?

Yep, I was bad too. I gave up beer for Lent and wouldn't you know it, we burnt pasture last Saturday and I mustered up one powerful thirst and, well, you know, I gave in, folded like a bad poker hand.

One year we gave up sweets but we haven't really given up anything the last few years. We have cut-down on the sweets though a little bit. Tomorrow, Good Friday, we don't eat any meat. We'll probably do a fish fry since fish isn't a "red meat".

For centuries, the Vatican required Catholics to abstain from eating meat on all Fridays but that has changed. Among Catholics, there has been more focus in recent years on doing good deeds rather than on giving up eating meat.
