Somber mood at the hospital.

As some of you know, I work security at a local hospital. On Wednesday night, one of our OB girls brought her daughter in to be seen. Soon after, they AirEvaced her out to the children's hospital in St.Louis.

Last night, she died. We still don't know exactly what caused it but it has something to do with an infection in her blood that started growing and eventually shut down her system. It may have had something to do with a Staph infection or virus which we all carry in our systems but it takes something quirky to make it react and you can die suddenly. I am pretty good friends with her and I've met her husband a few times. They are hometown people and have many connections to many people in this hospital and most of which are not even through hospital connections. They are some of the nicest most upbeat people you could ever ask for and their little girl was only 9. My sister-in-law works in OB too and called me to let me know that she had passed. Her daughters are 7 and 12 and we were talking about what would happen if it were them in this situation. It's a horrible thought and one that I don't mind saying brings tears to my eyes. Being a smaller but regional hospital, when you have people that live around here and work here for years, you get pretty close to some of them. I know most of the night shift people pretty well and so far, I can't think of a person here that their heart doesn't hurt just a little bit tonight. Most of the time, I pray for strength and mercy from God and forgiveness for my sins and to forgive those around me. Tonight, I pray that all of my strength, mercy and forgiveness be given to my friends and their families. They really need it. I am not going to ask you all to pray because with this group of people I know I don't have to. Thank you in advance.

My favorite quote:

The difference between Grace and Mercy.

Grace is when God gives us what we don't deserve.

Mercy is when God doesn't give us what we do deserve. frown.giffrown.giffrown.gif

Knee Mail sent, My daughter asked me about going to heaven last night. I tried to explain that when our work here is done, God calls us home. She asked if we will be old, and I told her age means nothing to our Lord, He is doing the young a favor when he calls them home to him, It only stinks to be Us

Re: Somber mood at the hospital.

Wow, how sad and terrible for the family and friends. Losing a child is the worst thing possible I hear. Just the other night while in bed, I though geesh, how hard life can be at times and how easy it can be to be in heaven with Jesus. God wants some of us to go sooner than others.
