Chrud
Well, I don't think he deserves it, but at least Gordon didn't win the Championship. Good job Kurt, I guess. He would have been 4th in last year's style, with Gordon winning #5.
fisherguy
Re: Anyone But Gordon! What a race! I really don't like Busch, he just seems like a jerk. But, i guess that is the way things go and he won it, so congrats to him on teh championship.

IowaDeerHunter
Re: Anyone But Gordon! Glad to have ROUSH RACING, not kurt, win the championship. meaning I was glad that a Roush man won it, just another one for Jack, but it could've at least been Mark, not kurt, but hats off to kurt, because to win the championship he did something right, and that would e consistency. But I think Jimmie deserved it, even though I am not a hendrick fan. For one because he was dominating in the regular season, and coming back with 4 out of 5 wins is pretty asesome, but he did have those dnf's to start off with. Honestly I would've rather seen gordon win it than kurt. I dont know about kurt he just seems like a moron. A whiner maybe I really dont know how to put it. Anyways he obviously was consistent like kenseth and won. But he never really had any big wins like gordon and johnson had, that i can remember of anyways. Chrud
Re: Anyone But Gordon! [ QUOTE ] anybody who pulls for a chevy team and then thinks it's ok for a ford to win the championship is a traitor. I thought you were a dale jr fan. BRU [/ QUOTE ] I didn't say it is ok that Kurt won. I would have rather seen Jimmie win if Junior couldn't. I'm just happy Gordon didn't win. Don't care what he drives. MichiganHuntr1
Re: Anyone But Gordon! One Spot Higher, and Johnson wouldve won the championship. It was close. It did add alot of fun to it for the fans, but im sad a Hendrick Car didnt win. What is so bad about Gordon anyway Chrud???? Him and Jr. are alike in alot of ways.... Nick
Re: Anyone But Gordon! What a frickin joke......Our NASCAR tickets are cancelled for next year. I dont like Busch and I sure as heck arent gonna congratulate him......maybe if he earned it I would.......I dont know how a guy can race a stellar season and be in the points lead way ahead of anybody else, then have another guy race a mediokre season but stay in the top 10 and end up winning it all because he actaully decided to race and get lucky the last 10 races. Thats horse crap. Yeah, maybe the previous years points system took the excitement out of the end because a guy could have a championship wrapped up a few races before the end, but at least you know he earned it and desserved it. Chevy should be atop.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Anyone But Gordon! I STILL DON'T LIKE THE NEW FORMAT.MAYBE I'LL GET USED TO IT.DON'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME THAT BUSCH WON OR THAT MAYFIELD FINISHED TENTH.I SUPPOSE KB DID WHAT HE HAD TO TO WIN THE THING. Chrud
Re: Anyone But Gordon! Just for information, Kurt Busch would have been 4th, over 230 points behind in last years system. He didn't deserve it. Now, watch the media run with this. First time ever there are two Cup champions, KB and JG (new system and old system). slugshooter
Re: Anyone But Gordon! I do not and will not like the new points system, even if Jeff had won Sunday, I take solace in knowing that he is the 36 race champion, thats all that matters to me. Racing is about consistency, not who is having a good streak at the time. Busch did nothing but lose points over the last 5 races, only by sheer luck did he not lose more. He didn't deserve it, not by a longshot. Congrats to Kurt for his 10 race Championship trophy.
VermontHunter
Re: Anyone But Gordon! I just can't understand how a car looses it's wheel and tire and drives all the way down pit road dragging the ground grinding up parts and still has enough to compete with cars that are not damaged. I may be wrong on this but if Kurt caused the caution how in the heck could he stay on the lead lap ???I may have missed something....and I still say go GORDON and team Hendrick.. The deduction came after the race for something done intentionally. Anyway, now back to the subject. Someone in question causing the yellow and not going down a lap. Bowhntr
Re: Anyone But Gordon! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that thinks this new points system is a joke. Busch didn't earn it and he doesn't deserve it. This years championship is a ten race championship not a season championship. Ive called this thing a crock since Loudon when Busch shot from 7th all the way to the top. How does somebody with a season record like Busch manage to win the cup? They dont! Not under a system like we used to have. True Gordon would have won #5 but at least it would have been based on 36 races worth of performance not 10 races worth of luck. The other thing is I have not found an address or e-mail link to contact NASCAR and let them know what I think of this new joke. Kinda strikes me like they are scared to know what the general race fan thinks. All this thing is, is a new cash cow designed for money and TV ratings. I used to think that NASCAR would never sell out to corporate greed. Well, guess I was wrong.
Chrud
Re: Anyone But Gordon! It doesn't matter. Tony Stewart just about wrecked an the spring Dega race and stayed on the lead lap. Kenseth blew a tire at Sonoma in '03 and stayed on the lead lap. It's all timing. Kurt broke the wheel right at the pit road entrance and the wheel stayed on the track. I don't see a problem with it.

slugshooter
Re: Anyone But Gordon! I wonder if we would still be under this new points scheme if Dale Sr. were still alive, I highly doubt it, he would have pulled France Jr. up by the ears and smacked some sense into him....or so I hope. I may be a diehard Gordon fan, but dang I miss seeing Dale going around that track.
