I Think I Just Burned A Bridge

I finally had enough of my neighbor's rat terrier. A lady that lives a few doors down (some of you may have remembered me posting about her, bit of a tree hugger). She runs a horse farm and has about 10 dogs and cats, and lets them all run. Most of her dogs stay put, but there's one rat terrier that runs over to my property chasing the wildlife out and running through my veggie gardens. I've called her and told her to keep track of it to no avail, so last night I called animal control.

BTW--all of you that are thinking "shoot, shovel, and shut up," cool.gif trust me, I've run it through my mind more than once, but feel the reprecussions would not be worth it.

I'll keep y'all posted. mad.gifgrin.gif

sounds like she burned the bridge, you did what you needed to do.

My feeling too but I know how you feel.

You can only take so much but dont want to cause waves either.

Case by case but I think you are in the right.

I just hope it does not rebound on you negatively...

Good Luck

That's rough when you ask them and they still don't do anything.

I feel that's a big problem in our world, many folks don't respect anyone else.

Re: I Think I Just Burned A Bridge

I just bought a house with my fiance, and there has been a dog that greets me at my front door every day......morning, noon and night! My dogs will be moving in with us when I move in, and I don't even think it is fair to have a strange dog hanging out outside their kennel. Occassionally is one thing, but I don't want another dog. You are a better man than I by calling animal control: I have a couple of dogs that may just dissappear if they don't learn to stay home.

I have called animal control a few times. The first time they get a slap on the wrist. After that animal control gets sick of having to come back and they take it more serious. At least thats what happened with me. Yup, that dog needs to go... cb longs would work. shocked.gif

Calling animal control is all you can do when everything else has been said and done. It makes for tough neighbourhood relationships, but at least you tried to talk to her about it first. It's not like you said nothing and then called animal control on her.

Sounds like too many pets for one household to me. Animal control might want to take a look at living conditions for these animals too.

Talking to her about it is the first thing animal control asked me. The lady says "have you talked to your neighbor about it?" "yep, twice."

All of her animals stay in the barn area Steve, except for maybe one or two of the older dogs I think, but I really don't know. She runs a riding stable and has a lot of thoroughbreds. My daughter loves horses, and I've taken her over there plenty of times. Julia runs a tight ship as far as the horses are concerned I think, but the other animals are another case. One of her mutts used to run all the time and one got hit by a car right in front of my place. I took that same dog back to her a couple of times before it finally got hit. When it did get hit, it just broke the leg on that dog. Poor thing sat under one of my trees just wailing. Finally the ladies across the street came over and asked me if I was going to do anything about it. I told them that I had taken that dog back to her a few times, and it would appear that she didn't care about it. mad.gif They got angry with me, and I think they took the dog to the vet. Had it not been in my front yard, I would have ended it with a .22 on the poor thing. She's had another mutt killed outright in front of her place.

Just don't know how she can let those dogs run like that. Doesn't know the nature of a dog I guess. mad.giffrown.gif

Re: I Think I Just Burned A Bridge

Good choice tominator. As much as I have thought about taking aim at the stupid neighbor's dogs that run around here loose and chase deer and all that; I haven't and won't unless of course they want to bite me. We won't call the dog control or whatever though because there probably would be repercussions from the neighbor.

You killed her Chris....................You did what anyone else would do. If she had a heart attack over it then that was her fault not yours............

LMAO, by God, that's funny right there.

I'm sure it was a rider accident. I guess that horse business is a dangerous business. She has liability disclaimers all over her barn and won't even let my daughter ride until she's 10.

Well, until I burned that bridge that is. grin.gif
