whitetailtrax
Every night of the week, the phone rings and caller id tells me it's the NRA.....calling to ask me sign up. I've told them my situation many times and still they call and interupt dinner and interupt reading time with my kids - it really ticks me off. I am a former member of the NRA and I support much of what they do as an organization....I also know how to sign up when and if I decide to again, without them calling me every night of the week. I have very limited funds to support organizations like this and so I choose annually, one group to support, and then change the following year. Groups I've supported include the Elk Foundation, TU, DU, local sportsmans groups, etc. None of them call me after my membership lapses. The more I get annoyed with the phone calls, the less likely I am to support them. Does this happen to others? Am I wrong for being upset with them? hutchies
Re: NRA Telemarketing Yeah, Buckmasters is horrible too. If you sign up online for their free contests they call you the same day trying to get you to cough up some money.
Steven
Re: NRA Telemarketing That's why I'm a former member of NRA as well as a few other orgs. Within a week of signing up I was being bombarded for donations and renewals. No matter how many times I told them to stop calling, they never would. Finally I sent them a registered letter, return receipt requested, to stop. Then they had no choice but to stop. They couldn't deny receiving the letter because I had proof they signed for the letter. I'd like to be involved with these orgs again, but not if I'm going to be constantly shaken down for money. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: NRA Telemarketing I don't give nothing to the NRA. They might do good things but that doesn't mean I need to belong to them. They bothered me for a while too but they gave up after a while! Tominator
Re: NRA Telemarketing I screen all calls, so no, they don't bug me, but like Racks says, as soon as you sign up, the next month they're sending you renewal notices. Always makes me wonder how much they could save in postage fees, money that could be spent in better places. The OEA and NEA are notorious for that too. My union dollars at work, eh? preacherman
Re: NRA Telemarketing I am like you guys.........I get calls from NRA and Buckmasters all the time. One time I got a call from Buckmasters, turned them down, then got a bill from them. Called them and told them that I never accepted the offer and they said, "Don't worry about it."..........a few weeks later I got another letter from a collection agency wanting my money for Buckmasters that I never promised I would send them in the first place. These groups never cease to amaze me.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: NRA Telemarketing My experience has been pretty much the same as LifeNRA's. I've been a member since about 1980 and a Life Member since 1990 and I do receive a lot of mail from them, but I've gotten exactly ZERO phone calls after I made one request for them to stop. wtnhunt
Re: NRA Telemarketing Used to get calls from nra and from buckmasters both. I still get mail from the nra frequently, but have not gotten a call from them in a long time. Like Chris I wonder how much they waste in postage and mailings. unioncountyslayer
Re: NRA Telemarketing If your state offers the NO-CALL Registry, sign up! This way telemarketers can't call you. Or just cancel your phone service and use your cell all the time like me. I use to be an NRA member and the same thing would happen to me, plus the junk mail they sent was out of control. They would send a pre-paid postage envelope with the mail and I would pack everything they sent to me in it and send it back. They stopped sending mail soon after. In NC we have a wonderful org. called grassroots of NC, and they are who I support now, a great organization that really fights for our rights as gun owners and hunters. whitetailtrax
Re: NRA Telemarketing Once again, they called last night and like the previous 100 nights they got my answering machine. It's interesting that a few months ago the calls started showing up as "Michigan" instead of NRA. So my wife answered it the first time it happened - never again since. We are on the No-Call Registry and I've told them several times to stop calling. I think I'll try again tonight when they call to get them to stop and then I'll get nasty and try to move up the chain of command if the calls don't stop. stevebeilgard
Re: NRA Telemarketing they bug me, too. and, i never send them a cent. as a life nra member, i think i may even get more letters than most. hate them. usually throw them away unopened. and the no call list works wonders.
