ODH
I was talking to one of my cousins today about my trip this year to Pennsylvania. I am going out there for this years rifle season, and plan on only buying a non-resident hunting license, and a doe tag(if I apply). I estimated spending around $130-$150, but he said he has been spend around $500 in the past years! Maybe I misunderstood him, hopefully, but what on earth could he possibly be buying? How much do you guys estimate I'll pay? thanks, Jon
M00N
Re: Pennsylvania Licenses? Our license prices will be changing this year and going up in price and they will be splitting off the regular license more tags you have to buy separately. I'm not sure their exact prices nor exactly what tags are being split off separate yet. They will put the new prices up on their site once they get straightened out I'd keep an eye on it. http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/ As far as I know you'll still need, like in previous years, a nonresident license, nonresident archery stamp (if you hunt archery), nonresident muzzleloader stamp (if you hunt muzzleloader), nonresident doe tags (if you want to hunt does), nonresident bear stamp (if you want to hunt bear), nonresident migratory game bird stamp (if you want to hunt migratory game birds), nonresident furtaker (if you want to hunt the furtaking species), nonresident elk (if you want to hunt elk, but this is a draw only tag), nonresident bobcat (if you want to hunt bobcat, but this is a draw only tag and requires furtaker license). I think the new ones for this year are going to be you need to purchase a nonresident turkey stamp (if you want to hunt turkey), a nonresident pheasant stamp (if you want to hunt pheasant), and a nonresident state game lands stamp (if you want to hunt on our state game lands). I may have missed some. There's so many I lose track sometimes.
M00N
Re: Pennsylvania Licenses? I asked a friend that hunted here last year as a Nonresident Adult for whitetail deer in PA what it costed him. He said after it was said and done it costed him $175.00 for his deer licenses. That only allowed him to hunt archery deer, muzzleloader deer, rifle deer, and one antlerless deer. At max he could take one buck and one doe in the year. The license also gave him a fall turkey, spring gobbler, and small game hunting abilities, but he didn't hunt those. This year they are looking to split some of the small game off the normal license and the turkey off the normal license making you have to buy a separate stamp to hunt them and are raising the prices on everything. I would at least have $200.00 put aside for this year if you intend to hunt as a Nonresident in this state for just deer. If you intend to hunt other species too and not just deer I'd save up more money than $200.00 to cover licenses. IMO
JimPic
Re: Pennsylvania Licenses? The license increase(if there is one) won't go into effect until the 2007 season. Also the seperate tags hav not passed and may not even be a seperate charge. The game land fee most likely won't pass either--they tried that previously and it got shot down-there's just no way to enforce it as too many people besides hunters use the lands. pa_sportsman
Re: Pennsylvania Licenses? For rifle season: Non-Resident Hunting License: $101.00 (one tag, antlered only) Non-Resident Antlerless License: $26.00 Non-Resident Bonus (Antlerless): $26.00 As I understand, any license increase approved this year will not be implemented until next year (2007-2008 season).
