AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Its really out of hand *Gas Prices* [ QUOTE ] Why should the Government step in and regulate private business prices. Sounds a little like Socialism to me. That would be the Good Old USSR and I don't like that idea. [/ QUOTE ] Let's see, the government seems to have their noses in our business from the video games our kids play to athletes on steroids, one would think they would tackle a topic that effects every worker's pocketbook in the US!! The government gets involved in alot of things they shouldn't be getting into but when it comes to gas prices rising they never find the root cause, maybe its kickbacks they get but the bottom line is the government can and should step in and get gas prices where people can afford them!! $40.00 to $60.00 to fill up a vehicle is ridiculous!! As far as this being a society like Russia don't fret over that, we are far from that but if our politicians don't act quick this country could lose alot. From the auto industry in the US cutting jobs to rising fuel prices, something has to be done before its too late!!
wtnhunt
Re: Its really out of hand *Gas Prices* It is/was up to $2.79 most places here yesterday. From what I understand, so long as China is buying so much oil, unless we are able to start drilling more here at home, prices will continue to be higher than we used to expect. So long as other consumers in other countries are willing to pay the escalated prices the producers will continue to profit from/screw the consumers. Does this make you OK with them reading your emails and listening to your phone calls. I don't think they should be meddling at all. They are in business to uphold the Constitution and defend the borders. I agree they get into to much public business, this only leads to people thinking that the Government should be taking care of them i.e. Katrina victims. Ever hear of insurance and a JOB. Sorry I am a bit touchy about where the Gov't should be poking its nose.

The govenor of my state has a better chance of finding out the cause of rising gas prices better than I can. We elect these people to be our voices and to look out for us and our families and to better our lives, gas prices are effecting the people who put these people in office, I believe they can at least find out why and if its gouging repremand the companies involved. If the government does not step in who will? You think you can make a difference and make them lower the price? You need to have the government investigate and fine or work out a resolution. You might not like the government getting involved but the last time I looked, that is why they are there. Its not so much defending the Constitution, its defending the people the Constitution represents and if gas prices are irking the working man and woman, then I say I want my government to investigate and find a resolution that helps my family's pocketbook! Master_Chief
Re: Its really out of hand *Gas Prices* Good points. I agree they could find out why it is going on and inform us. I just don't want them over step and really goof it up.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Its really out of hand *Gas Prices* I agree, it would be nice to hear what is going on and our government needs to address this situation that effects each of us on a weekly if not daily basis. I do agree they meddle where they shouldn't but nobody babysits their actions and that is why we have some of the problems today.
