okbowman
They sure aren't gobbling much, and I saw a hen mosying around eating from 9:30-11am. I would think that if they were nesting she would have gone off somewhere to do that. Anybody have any info here?
huntinsonovagun
Re: Nesting in Oklahoma? I've been seeing several hens alone, or with other hens. Not much gobbling here either. What's the deal?!
Diamondback7
Re: Nesting in Oklahoma? I've also seen some hens alone mid-morning and the toms seem to be gobbling quite a bit on the roost but when they pitch down they go hushmouth...dont know why that is? Griz
Re: Nesting in Oklahoma? These birds here are gobbling strong on the roost and on the ground. I think it's just alittle to early yet. I think the hens have been building there nest and I would bet some are laying right now. There just not in to it full swing yet... Give it time...I figure here in another week or two the old toms will start getting lonely and alot more active...
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Nesting in Oklahoma? I'm in NY and I jumped a hen off a nest by accident last weekend while out riding the quad. I stopped the quad when I saw her and she was sitting down, frightened, but not frightened. She dropped another egg and stood up and cautiously walked away.. When she was out of my site, I stood up on the quad and peeked over and saw the nest.
