Re: Nervousness.....will it ever go away??????

Cause unknown. It didn't blow up but every tech that looked at it was amazed that it didn't. The string jumped off the idler wheel and top limb cracked about 5 inches long. Scared the crap out of me. They gave me a new bow. My first day shooting it was horrible. My groups were all over the place and I kept punching the trigger and pulling away from the shot. Wondering how long til I get back in the groove.

Itll go away you just gotta practice more and more. Ive never had one completely blow up on me but I have had 3 blow up next to me and I was too shaky to get the bow back then I shot for a good while and it went away after about a month or so of shooting everyday, but both of my breaks were horrible I had carbon and glass in my arm from the arrow and scope on both of them I dont know how bad yours was cuz I never saw the original thread so it might take you longer or maybe itll work sooner I dunno but good luck and dont give up.

Maybe idler wheel was leaning and thats why it came off. Just a fluke I'm sure won't happen again you got a good bow. smile.gif

Make a list of step by step instructions and tape it to your bow limb. Read it everytime before you shoot each shot and inspect your bow regularly. Pretty soon you will concentrate on that instead of what could have happened. When you know it by heart and repeat it to yourself before each shot, then take the paper off and continue to go through each step as you shoot. In no time, you will be back hitting zero's.

My advise to you is this, put your bow in it's case and put it away. Don't shoot it or even think about it, totally forget you shoot a bow.

If you can go a month great, but leave it alone. The last thing you want to do is start punching and flinching by worrying about what is going on with my bow. Shooting is a mental thing and shooting well is a mind game, either get your mind right or put it away. Like Yoda said" there is no try, there is only do or do not".

I put it up for Turkey season anyway.........I pulled out the shotgun. I can drill dots at 20 yards but at 30 my groups are not where I want them and I have not broadhead tuned. I had already decided to gun hunt my turkeys this year. I will get ready for the June 3rd shoot.

Bryan, it will take some time to get over it , the more you shoot you will build confidence in your bow.

its just going to take some time.

i have had 1 bow blow up on me when i was at full draw. not fun at all. but i got over it pretty quick.

Shoot Strong

Hutch, grow up dadgumit... grin.gif j/k buddy...

Man when my Mathews blew up on me during deer season I got some what nervous when I got my new bow.

Keep in mind Hutch things are going to happen when you are shooting a mechanical devise like that. All you can do is pray that it don't...

I have had 8 different bows blow up on me over the years...Yeah it wasn't fun either. Nearly lost an eye on one deal and had a top limb break on another bow that almost broke my shoulder. Anyway, after everything was said and done, I would take a deep breath and start flinging arrows again. I will never slow down on archery no matter what...

So yeah bud be scared of it some what, because it can hurt ya, but don't let it take control of you either...

You will over come that...

Now get out there and shoot some arrows... wink.gif

Happy Shooting...

Griz...

I didn't slow down. My groups have just been horrible. I got out yesterday and built my confidence up a little. I was bound and determined to kill some spots. I was shooting a single spot(builds confidence) and nailing 3 inch circle from 20-30 yards. Ready to start moving back again. Before long I will be back to 60.

I think it will always be in the back of your mind, we have a tendency to remember things like that. My first bow was a high country sniper, with strings instead of cables. One day without warning one of the strings broke while I was at full draw. The arrow shot off and I had sore arms for a few days after that. I don't dwell on it, but it is in the back of my mind every time I target practice.
