Reloader
OK, just got an email from Scott about the scope David Blanton is donating for Dakota. As expected it is a Nikon, also not surprising...it has a Realtree camo finish. Now maybe it is just me, but it would be realy cool to get an aftermarket synthetic stock for the Stevens that matches that Realtree pattern, or get a Realtree camo dip job for it's current synthetic stock. I don't have a clue who would make such a stock or dip, but if it exists it would make for a very unified and COOL package! Anyone have any ideas or thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] You need to read the stickys on top LOL! Savage donated a Stevens model 200 in 270 Winchester. It is a standard grade Blued/Synthetic. Nice handeling and accurate from the reports I've heard but rather plain to stick a Nikon / Realtree scope on. Hehe!
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Dakota\'s gun package...I may be pushing it now I would think there are other "priorities" to get him for this hunt ... thats a great idea but matching gun with scope color doesn't rank very high with me ... Dakota may think different ... thats who it really matters to ... I think we should get his mom on the hunt first .... Now if someone donates a dip or a stock then that would be cool ... anyone have any resources for a synthetic stock for the gun? HSOG get with the program dude where you been ... we had a gun for him the first weekend ... Steve Steve

stevebeilgard
Re: Dakota\'s gun package...I may be pushing it now i'm with bowtec steve. (well, not the red wings part.... lol). let's keep with what he needs, and not a beautiful camo matched gun. while that would be very nice, he needs cloths, travel money, etc.
rifleman25
Re: Dakota\'s gun package...I may be pushing it now Bowtech steve and stevebeilgard are right. Thats little stuff we can worry about later on. Ya never know the unique nature of the gun might make it more special to him.

Just throwing ideas out there...like I said this was acrazy thought anb was pushing things a bit...but if someone has something easy to do it that could be cool. You are right though , not at the expense of something he may need!
wtnhunt
Re: Dakota\'s gun package...I may be pushing it now Like Steve, I am not so sure about the camo on the gun idea. I do however wonder if the savage has the hard plastic recoil pad like the standard on their guns or if it has a better pad. Might not hurt to look into getting him a pachmayr decelrator recoil pad or a limb saver pad for the rifle. The stock pads on savage guns are not so great. All of you on the forum will already have made it special because it came from you guys and David Blanton, and will make a good story for those who ask! And he also said to be sure to thank you, and to tell you all how overwhelmed and grateful he is with everything you all have done and are doing! You all are special!! Thanks from dad and mom too!!
