Re: remington .223 LVSF

JPG522....I bought one of these in 223 Rem over a month ago and still have not been able to shoot it mad.gif Someday I will get a chance to smile.gif

I mounted a Nikon Monarch 6.5x20 in Leupold mounts/rings but have since got a Leupold M8 12X Varmint to install on the LVSF. I think the later scope will do nicely on the 223.

Re: remington .223 LVSF

I've got the same rifle...except in 22-250. Havent got to shoot mine...its off getting a custom trigger installed, re-glass bedding, fun stuff like that. I only have one disagreement with you setup....with such a large scope dosen't it defeat the purpose of gettin the "light varmit" model?? i am gonna stick with a scope of 14 ounces or less. Just a thought BUM

Re: remington .223 LVSF

Yes, the Nikon is a little to much for the LVSF. I just mounted a Leupold M8 12X fixed on her. Still havent had a chance to shoot it yet.

My thoughts are I am going to see how it shoots and then probably have it re-chambered to 223 Imp. I think the 22" tube it has is a bit short to get what the 22-250 is capable of. I will have wait till it's done but I am sure the improved 223 will be right on the heels of the 22-250 in a 22" barrel with using alot less powder.

This morning I weighed the LVSF and she tipped the scales at an even 8 lbs. Just for grins I weighed a big brother of hers, a Rem 40XBKS with a 8.5x25X Leupold and it came in at 12 lbs 2 ozs.

40X is on the left while the LVSF is on the right. grin.gif

Re: remington .223 LVSF

My set up is taylor made for my run and gun style. I get out and travel here in West Virginia, I cover alot of ground and need a light gun to not weigh me down when i am on the hunt for whistlepigs, coyotes, ferrel cats, bobcats, etc. I am gonna custom load with different....faster burning powders, and bullet weights, it will take me alot of dabbling to get it right where i want.
