wtnhunt
Re: Therma cell Have seen them, and wondered how well they would work. The mosquitoes here are relentless. Might have to give the therma cell a try.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Therma cell WE just bought one to try and it works great we put it in the blind and the skeeters never bothered us once ... Now we have to buy another so we both have one... not to bad for 25 bucks though ... and we got the holster that holds it to. Steve
Leo
Re: Therma cell Putting one inside a tent blind will make your head ache and could be seriously dangerous. They produce some Carbon Monoxide since they burn fuel. Put it just outside the blind, they work great

Guest PAT_PATTERSON
Re: Therma cell It's like your master card, don't leave home with out it. I bought one 2 years ago, spring turkey hunting, the mosquitoes were so bad, I turned it on and in less than 5 minuets no more mosquitoes. since I live in Florida, the bug capitol of the world, I decided to try it out during archery season. Swamps of Florida are the true test grounds, while walking into my stand I could see the mosquitoes rising up from the ground around me. Once I climbed my tree and got settled in I turned on my Therma Cell and no more bugs. The deer didn't notice the slight smell it gives off, they say because it's organic based repellent. If you buy one make sure you buy the holster for it, it makes using and carrying it a breeze
Guest PaGriz
Re: Therma cell Best thing they have came up with in years. It's part of my turkey hunting kit now, if you get the holster its easy to hang it on a branch near your location and keep the bugs away for hours. I use mine now in archery season too and so far have not had a deer spook from the little scent it does produce. A buddy puts a couple of drops of scent on a cotton ball and hangs it in front of the vent of the unit, he swears it works like a charm. Pa. Guest Storm25m
Re: Therma cell It is all self contained and will not spill. It uses a butane cartridge to heat a pad of insect repellant. You can see a slight amount of steam/smoke coming off it when it's going and it does have a slight smell. I don't think I've ever been busted because of it though. It works very well. If there are mosquitos around, you turn it on and they're gone in minutes. Usually I can see them hovering around about 10ft away just waiting for me to turn it off. They'll usually be back around my face about 5 minutes after the Thermacell is turned off. It's supposed to lay horizontal to work correctly, so don't plan on using it on a belt. It's a good product. Butane comes in little cartridges and the repellant is on a mat/pad. No problem carrying in a pack or vest.
Guest finsnfur
Re: Therma cell I found them on clearance at my Menards for $6.99. I bought 2 of them and some refills. glad I picked them up after reading the reviews here. I was just hoping they worked.
yooperkenny
Re: Therma cell I bought my wife one for upcoming Mother's Day - she'll use it for gardening, around the campfire or whatever. The black flies and mosquitos of Michigan's UP are as nasty as anywhere on the planet, Florida and Canada included. If it'll work here it will work anywhere. Assuming it will - can you buy stock in the company that makes the Therma Cell?
VTbowman
Re: Therma cell Worked for me last year. I think I had 1 mosquitoe bite all summer and fall when I had it with me. Many bites without... The one bite resulted in the fule cell running out before I was done hunting and I was to lazy to replace it for the last 30 minute of light...
