Guest Bowtecher
I just got a Winchester Model 94 that I've been told was made in 1973 (it has no tang safety and it looks to be worn accordingly). I've noticed there is some rust inside the action of the gun and I'd like to clean it up with as little damage to the gun as possible. Are there any tips or tricks that might make this possible? Other than that this gun works fine and really doesn't look too bad considering its age and that it was used regularly. I know I'm going to have to take it apart, but I've never owned an older gun before, so I haven't had any experience with this.
johnf
Re: Need help cleaning up an old gun I've got a marlin 336 that was my grandfathers and was in terrible shape when I got it. I used OOO steel wool and WD40 to get the rust off of most of it. Then I reblued it myself. That was 8 years ago. The gun works great and no rust has returned.
