Jeramie
I told you all that I was renting a track hoe this past weekend to do some work around the house.... It was quite the event. We head to Pryor with my 1/2 ton and a 16' trailer in tow. They drive this thing out and my jaw dropped. Over the phone they told me this earth mover weighed in at 3500lbs.... It looked much larger then 3500 but I figured they own it so they probably know what it weighs. I pulled out the ramps, the kid drove it part of the way up on the trailer and the trailer stood straight up lifting the rear end of my truck straight up in the air! My wife and baby were still in the truck and the rear end was literally feet off the ground. The tires were a good foot off the ground. He backed off slowly and the guy that owns the business came out to talk to me. I asked him about the 3500lb load and he said, "Who told you that! This thing weighs about 6000!" Ok, so now I need a different truck. He told me they haul it all over with a half ton and he would load it over the axles. He put two wood blocks under the trailer to keep it from hoisting the truck up again. He loaded the machine. We made the 15-mile trek home. I found two concrete blocks and backed the track hoe off the trailer. That was just after 10:00a.m. I started in the back yard and worked all day. Infact I literally didnt stop until midnight. I got back up at 6:00a.m. and worked until 9:45 a.m. We then loaded the track hoe and headed back to Pryor. I dropped the thing off and headed back home and worked until 5:00. My rear was dragging but I got a lot accomplished. I have since decided I need a trackhoe... Here is what I got done.... * 70' of septic line in the back yard (added a new bath and had to take the plumbing around to the tank). 24" deep. * 50' of direct burial line to the new swimming pool. roughly 12" deep. * Used the blade to scrape the spot for the pool. * Went to the road and dug out the cattle guard (4'x12'x1'6"). Later set the cattle guard. * Dug 600' of line 18" deep to set up the gate opener at the road. I then layed 600' of direct burial and covered the whole thing back up! That was a chore but I can flick a flea off a dog with the bucket on a track hoe now! It was a lot of work but it was stuff I needed to get done and im glad its over..... I just miss my track hoe.... wtnhunt
Re: I tore up some ground! Really handy sized little machine there. Would sure like to have a backhoe attachment for my kubota. I need to rent a trackhoe sometime soon to do some work in the bottom, but it is going to be a big one. A lot of fun running equipment. Newarcher
Re: I tore up some ground! Did they supply the homeless guy to run it for you or did you stop at the day labor pool? Just kidding. Man, that looks like a riot! I can't wait for something to break at my house so that I can rent one! New

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: I tore up some ground! Definitely a labor saver. Ever tried a trencher? The trackhoes are nice for digging holes, but for ditches the trencher is the bomb!
Jeramie
Re: I tore up some ground! Yep, if I would have had an addition $100 to blow I could have rented a ditch witch. I had this rented for 24 hours at $195 so I figured I might as well use it. I didnt have 24 hours worth of work if I wouldnt have dug the 600' power line.
