horst
The only problem with finding a new property to hunt this late in the year is I dont have time to actually scout it thoroughly. The deer bed and feed in pretty much the same area on some terraces in a cornfield. It didnt dawn on me untill last night how big this guys place is, the the section his grounds in is about 4 miles long and 2 miles wide, he seem to own about half of it.My question is, would sticking a ground blind up this late in the season bother the deer? The blind would have to sit on one of the terraces and would stick out like a sore thumb. There only a couple weeks till gun season opens and Id have to pull it again.Ive been sitting in the weeds along the terraces and have been havng pretty good luck with it.But Im finding out the deer when they come past are at very close range and Im afraid to try to draw back without spooking em. At night they go off the terraces in all different directions, my only other though would be to set up somewhere less obvious on the property and hope I guesse right and one of the bigger bucks picks that area to come into.Ive seen close to 30 deer in the last two nights and only had one wind me, maybe Id be better off sticking with what Im doing now.I know ts hard to give advice without seeing the property but did I jump in to close to thier main area right off the bat?And will sticking a blind in at this point in the season alert the deer somethings up?I dont have time to let them get used to it.Another problem Im running into is while the deer dont seem to notice me sitting there, its very hard to sneak back out with deer feeding all the way around me At any rate, Im gonna hunt somewhere else tonight and probably till Thanksgiving when Im gonna try a morning hunt in there, and let the areaq calm down some.
