Guest ILBIGBUCKS
I was wondering if anyone has bee havin any luck. I had 1st season and i killed my bird on the last day but the hunting was so hard. The birds were so henned up and still are, i took a buddy out and we called in a nice one to 60yds and strutted for over an hour with the camera rolling but wouldnt come any closer, so I was just wondering what anyone else has done. bowhnter16
Re: Illinois? Hey ILBIGBUCKS I am from Macomb and I shot a 22 pound tom on the second day of first season. I know a lot of people who have shot birds, but I also know a lot that are haveing trouble because they are henned up. My advise to them is to go out about 10 am and the bird will usually get fired up again.

Guest ILclimber
Re: Illinois? Hey ILBIGBUCKS, Yeha, same here in S. IL, crazy huh? Me and Dad got our bird two weekends ago. Henned up like crazy! We heard two gobblers all morning, we sat tight made a few calls and that brought him in. This was a case where the decoy helped out a ton. MUDRUNNER
Re: Illinois? Well,I'm going tomorrow morning and spending 4 days chasing gobblers.I've never shot one,but I've called a few in for some of my buddies. Not a lot of birds around the property, but all I need is one.I was worried this season would be too late, but it's encouraging to see so many of you bagged birds. ckannmacher
Re: Illinois? down here in clark county everybody seems to be getting one. i had second season and it took me four days in the same spot to figure out what they were doin and finally get one. my dad and brother went to a new spot we had never been and there was literally 20 or so birds in a square half mile gobbling their heads off. it took 3 days and dad shot one but my brother shot his back around our normal area. all of them had 10 to 10 1/2 inch beards and little over 1 inch spurs. me and dad still have a 5th season tag so hopefully we can get 2 more.
