...... with a muzzleloader that is! Thanks to a job change back in August and the resulting 60 to 70 hour work weeks, i haven't been on the forums much lately, but i wanted to sneak in here and catch up and post that i managed to hunt 1 1/2 days of the first 3 day segment of the firearm season here in Illinois and killed a 145 lb. dressed, 7 point buck with my new muzzleloader on Sunday morning (the 21st). Not my biggest buck ever, but i am happy with it for my first muzzleloader kill ever! I shoot a CVA Optima Pro with a Nikon 2-7x32 scope loaded with 2-50gr. Pyrodex pellets pushing a 295gr. Powerbelt bullet. The shot was 45 yards and a high shoulder shot dropped him in his tracks. Based on this one experience, i am impressed with the Powerbelts. Expansion was good and i got complete penetration. Coming from someone who is used to hammering deer with a 12 ga. deer slug, i must say i am happy with the performance of my CVA to this point. I have a "Muzzleloader Only" permit left, so i am hoping to get another opportunity to take a deer. I will be looking to take a doe this time. Consider me hooked on Muzzleloading deer! cool.gifgrin.gif

I'll say! What, maybe 5 miles? I have friends and relatives who live in Holiday Shores. I spent many a summer day swimming and hanging at the Clubhouse in Holiday Shores when i was a teenager. Good to see a forum member so close. Welcome to the forums! grin.gif
