IMO, I would have let this bird walked. I have had bearded hens in my gun sights before during spring season and knowing they where hens that would produce young , they got a free a pass.

Now to answer your question, yes, you might as well get her done. Otherwise it would be waste.

Well where we hunt, the birds are SO over populated! They actually trapped 600 birds last fall to thin them out and take else where. So in that case I didnt mind taken a Hen! There are PLENTY others!

Thank you everyone for there input! She is going to the taxidermy!

Have been watching two bearded hens behind my house for the last three years.One has a three inch,the other has a six to seven inch beard.Never shot them because I didn't know if they would breed or not.Still fun to watch them.

Actually, somewhere between 10 to 20 percent of hens are bearded. Some say that they are the best brooders too. I guess because typically they are the older hens.
