huntinsonovagun
I use Castol motor oils, but after hearing how much better sythetics were, I think I am going to change. Do you have any good choices?? I will probably look for Castrol's, since they are the best but let me know what and why. also, any reasons you think I shoul NOT switch. Later..... popgun
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... I would use whatever is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Many ATV's and Motorcycles are using the same oil for the engine lubrication as well as the wet clutch and transmission. The transmission whips the oil into a foamy froth and bubbles don't cool or lubricate well. That is why many manufacturers have gone to the synthetic oils. Whatever your manufacturer recommends is what will keep your warranty valid. .....popgun

popgun
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the manufacturer don't want the vehicle to break down during the warranty period. So whatever they recommend is what I would use for the duration that I owned or operated it. Since that is a Nissan, you should be able to use pond scum and it will work fine. .....popgun
Tominator
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... i've heard synthetics are better off if you use them from the start, otherwise, you're just as well off using a regular motor oil. don't know if that's true or not. oil is oil as far as i'm concerned. maybe sureshot could give us a better idea. AaronS
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... Check out Mobil and Amsoil. I use Shell Rotella T synthetic in my F250 Powerstroke but I'm not sure if Rotella is the best for gas engines. If someone wants to use synthetic they should not do it right off in a new vehicle. It's best to run dino oil for the first several thousand miles to let everything get seated in place. Synthetic reportedly lubricate "too well" and won't allow engine components to adequately seat, potentially leading to leaks and other damage. texastrophies
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... I'm at 191,000+ and have used nothing but Castrol 10w30. No changes for me. In my 4-wheelers I use Castrol synthetic oil, but if you have a wet clutch system, the synthetic oil is not good for them, stick to what is recommended. Guest outdoorgirl
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... we use conklin synthetic on everything we own....and it's the best product on the market as far as using it in our kenworth tractor ....we use it in our 4 wheelers..our trucks...lawn mower....it's great and it saved us a lot of money with our oil changes on the kenworth changing the oil about ever 60,000 miles but changing the oil filter every 8,000 miles then we send a oil sample to ctc analyical services and they tell us if we need changing. we our very pleased with this synthetic oil....they have a web site ....conklin oil
archerjg
Re: Synthetic motor oils...... I use Castrol GTX motor oil myself. I have never tried the synthetic stuff before, but you never know. The only stuff we have ever added to any of the equipment is Lucas oil additive and that seem to help keep things running well.
