You would feel real bad if you said the heck with it and let it fly at what you thought was 30, only to wound the bird and not find him. Obviously you're doing something right if you got him within 30 yards twice. When sitting at ground level it's real easy to misjudge distances. You did exactly what you're suppose to do if you think the shot is too far...and that's not to shoot. I commend you for it. Best of luck.
