Tominator
Heard my first pheasant rooster crowing today. Way over on the neighbor's tree line, but at least I heard one. Saw tons of rabbit today too.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Roosters Crowing! We have a ton of rabbits around here to ... down on the farm we heard 2 roosters going at it ... was pretty neat ... we weren't sure what it was at first ... but then figured it out ... we are gonna plant some soygrum aroun the edges of our field to maybe try and hold some of the pheasants on the property ... Tominator
Re: Roosters Crowing! [ QUOTE ] Do they crow similiar to chicken roosters ? too_ [/ QUOTE ] Kind of. It's an abbreviated C-ock-a-doddle doo. Drop the "doo" and you have a pheasant crow. Here's a recording. Scroll down a bit and you can hear it. http://www.jandeproductions.com/2005/29MAY05.html If you're close enough to them when they crow, you can hear them flap their wings after they crow. Pretty cool.

huntinguide
Re: Roosters Crowing! were not hearing pheasants but prarrie chickens, if you havent heard them you are missing out. The males have these orange sacs on there necks and they blow up like balloons. Actually they are about done, they peak out around march but there are a few still going nuts. [ QUOTE ] we hear pheasants crowin all the time her ein north dakota... i dont think they ever stop? do they? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think I've heard one crow past August. I hear them cackle all the time or do that nervous "cluck, cluck, cluck"
