buckee
Re: New Gerber carnivore bloodlight? I have a friend of mine who is colour blind, and can't trail deer well at all. If something like this works, then all the guys who are colour-blind will finally have the edge they need.
ruttinbuc
Re: New Gerber carnivore bloodlight? Your points are well taken Snapper. No one forces us to buy anything. There are a lot of tools to help us with our pursuits. However, at what point will our hunting and woodmanship skills not be necessary at all. If we would become proficent with the tools we already have there would be no need for all the gimmicks and gadgets that exist today. Maybe I am too old school when it comes to this stuff. I look at technology and see things that really make our lives easier in a fast paced society. I hunt to to get away from all of that. Hunting is a skill that should be practiced and learned to its traditions. I don't think it was ever meant to be easy. Do we put all our trust in our own abilities or do we turn it over to Madison Avenue and let them do it for us? One thing for sure is that my 79 cent bottle of hydrogen peroxide will never need batteries and blood will always show up as frothy white. wtnhunt
Re: New Gerber carnivore bloodlight? Dont know if this one is a gimmick or not, that was the reason I posted. I do have quite a bit of troubles seeing colors in the dark, and we have lost a couple deer shot in the afternoons to coyotes, because I was no longer able to find blood and we waited until the next day to pick up the blood trail. If this $50 light could help me to find just one deer before the yotes did, it would be well worth it to me.
AaronS
Re: New Gerber carnivore bloodlight? One quick question, although Gerber may be the only one able to answer as of now. The write-up says it focuses on the red color. The way I read that, it works from the color and not blood in particular. That is great during the majority of the season, but what about the couple of weeks that the maple leaves have turned red and have fallen to the ground? I always did like the way blood seemed to "glow" in the light of a Coleman lantern, although it's large and bulky and inconvenient. I now keep a rechargable million candlepower spotlight in the truck for tracking (locked in the toolbox so there's no question about jacklighting). With its compact size, if this light works it would be much more convenient than both.

[/ QUOTE ] That is a really good question. We have tons of maples and oaks on our property here and they do sometimes complicate things especially when you have the occasional dew drops that at first glimpse appear to be red. Have a 2 million candle power spotlight we use as well, and it helps using it along with the rechargeable craftsman 19.2 volt light and the 3 d mag lights we keep ready. Gerber being reputable company in the hunting industry would think would not put out a gimmick product, I am really tempted to buy one of these, but would not want to blow $50 on something that turns out to be useless, or not anything more than a light with a colored lens.
