Re: who all has had luck in ny so far

Joe, I took my 1st 2006 gobbler at 5:55am opening day. He came in with two hens leading the way, but they never made a single sound? His stats were: 19.6lbs, 8" beard, and 7/8" spurs.

I'll post a pic or two as soon as I finish up this roll of film. I went out yesterday morning in the same area, but the woods were as quiet as a Church?

we have been slamming them so far... opening day i didn't have a bird gobble within a mile of where i was set up... so we moved around 6:00 gave a quick series of cutts and the bird pounded it, 2 minutes later 1 tom with no beard came strutting in along with 4 jakes in tow.......they loved those Renzos.... at 35 yards i dropped the tom with some 3.5" toms.. i started to get up and teh bird took off flying, i couldn't believe it , could find him......... so we went to another spot and worked some serious toms for over 2 hours there were 4 toms and 5 hens.... i pulled 2 of them away from the hens to about 30 yards..no missing this time i pulled a double with my brother... his bird weighed 23lbs 10"beard 1 1/8" spurs..... my bird was 20lbs 15oz 9 1/4" beard 1" spurs, got home took my old man down the road, got hima nice slammer too, i dont know the specs of that bird smile.gif...been a good year so far.

Well I had a shot at a spooked gobbler ina tree and missed with the branches. I think he's still around; haven't seen sign of anyone else. Otherwise, he is not gobbling and I'm just seeing hens in this one field alot. Maybe next week will be the week...maybe... Still haven't tried the state land yet though.
