OJR
For those of you who have been in physical therapy or are going to have to go to physical therapy this is for you. Where I am going there is a sign on the wall and it says, "THOU SHALT NOT WHINE"! There are some days, when I would like to tear it down! Tominator
Re: Physical Therapy! I was pretty close to going with my last surgery Orlan, but luckily did not have to go because the surgeons were able to avoid the nerve that controls raising your arm. Man, was that area sore for a looooooong time. Can't imagine someone hurting it intentionally like in PT. Good luck with that buddy, hang in there. VermontHunter
Re: Physical Therapy! [ QUOTE ] There are some days, when I would like to tear it down! [/ QUOTE ] If that helps with the pain,,, go for it and tear that thing up like a hurricane.... It's real easy for someone to say not too whine when they aren't the one in pain.... I hope yours is as painless as possible, and things recover 100% for ya....
huntinsonovagun
Re: Physical Therapy! LOL...I find this funny since I'm wanting to be a PT......something about inflicting severe pain on someone and getting paid for it.
Jeramie
Re: Physical Therapy! I feel for ya! I had to go after I got rearended by a 3/4 ton GMC van. I was making a left hand turn (sitting still) and he was driving 45mph while playing with his cell phone. Boom! I thought I was fine until the next morning. I had to do PT for about 2-weeks. It does help. My neck still gives me troubles, I couldnt imagine where I would be without their help. I hope it helps to you to heal quickly! AaronS
Re: Physical Therapy! Best of luck Orlan. My wife is a PT, so I know how much of a pain they can be at times. Did I say that out loud.
OJR
Re: Physical Therapy! It wouldn't be so bad if this was the first time! This happens to be the 26th operation on my legs, so I have spent many hours in physical therapy over the years!! It is getting downright sickening!! LOL!! My knee is getting better though and this is starting my second month!!! Oh well, so it goes!!
GWSmith
Re: Physical Therapy! Orlan, I say go to a T-Shirt shop and have one made up just for you to wear there: "You break it...You buy it"!!!! God's speed on your recovery
buckee
Re: Physical Therapy! I've been to therapy for my back and I don't like it much either. They tell you to do stuff, and put your complete confidence in the program, not to complain and whine, because what your doing will make you better in 6 to 8 weeks. Then 6 to 8 weeks later when you go to them and tell them your back's not only the same, but now you have pains shooting down your legs..they look at you with a dumb look, and say "you must have re-injured yourself...and why didn't you tell us you were in pain. If it hurt that bad, you should have told us and not been doing those exorcises. I feel for ya, and if you have no objections, I'll pray for you too. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Physical Therapy! Good luck with the PT. Our PT building has a full weight room in it and I'm out there 4 evenings a week lifting. There's usually a couple of patients out there so I get to see and hear all of that whining you're talking about. Some really are in pain, but that's the only way they'll ever get better. Others.... well, let's just say that I'd tend to classify them as slackers. Usually pretty easy to tell who's faking it and who's not. puffy
Re: Physical Therapy! Eight months of back therapy for me and a learning process of identifying when and how nuch pain is enough. Hopefuuly your therapist asks enough questions to help limit your discomfort and make progress at the same time, if not let them know. Sometimes their roadmap to recovery is not the best route taken without a guide like yourself. LOL
Bucksandbeards
Re: Physical Therapy! I know exactly how ya feel , I've torn my left rotator cuff twice & my right one once , my right one is torn now , just tryin to decide when to try & get it fixed . I've got 15 screws 7& eight anchors holdin them both together , i spent 20 weeks in pt the last time & i have to say without a doubt the therapy helped me alot , most people don't realize how long it really takes 4 the body to heal properly .. GOOD LUCK !!
wtnhunt
Re: Physical Therapy! Was a long time ago, but had to go through pt for about a month the last time I had surgery on my arm.
Swamphunter
Re: Physical Therapy! Due to my involvement in mixed martial arts, jiu jitsu, karate, and weightlifting, I spend a considerable amount of time at the doctor, the O.R. and physical therapy. It does get sickening to hear someone say stuff like that. I have had them say, "for a younger guy, you sure must complain a lot to have all these surgeries". It makes me so mad because my physical fitness is very important to me and because I choose not to sit on the couch or drink in bars all weekend, and I get busted up a bit with my activities, they try and make a spectacle of me in front of people. Oh well, I take it in stride. They all know what I do and make comments about me "volunteering my body for them to train on (thats comforting also ). But anyhow. I feel for ya on this one.
