Jeramie
I was listening to talk Radio Yesterday. A guy called in and said that one thing people are failing to see is that if the illegals are given legal status the cheap labor (that the liberalls are fighting for) just went out the window! If we given them legal status they all have to make minimum wage. Then he went on to say if we make them legal, unions will swoop in on Construction workers, factory, etc. With their promises of higher wages and the union to back their promises most of the now legalized work force would turn Union driving up wages for them. Now youve got a group of Poor, legal citizens that are out of work because the illegals (meaning those not accepting cards) are still working cheaper. In the end.... There will still be a huge demand for Illegals. Looking at it from an employeer point of view, what benifit is there to give out legal status like tic-tacs? Suddenly employers would have to carry workmans comp and pay taxes and everything else that goes with employees. There is little to no reason to think that someone who owns a thousand acre green house would want that! Again, those carrying cards arent hired but behind the scene.... Illegals. johnf
Re: A look at Wages (illegals) If your talking about the average mexican working in the fields you can make it a contract labor situation where they are paid for the work they do not the hours they work. In this situation you can legally pay them what ever they agree to work for. The harder they work the more money they make. What's not fair about that? Washi
Re: A look at Wages (illegals) I saw on the news where it said the illegals who worked construction were getting paid an average of $10 an hour. My brother was working construction and only getting paid $8 an hour before taxes. It ends up cheaper for the employer to pay the illegals a better hourly wage because they don't give them any benefits, pay taxes or anything else on them. horst
Re: A look at Wages (illegals) Washi, your brothers employers probably also charging people 18 or 20$ an hour for your brothers services while paying him 8$ an hour. Its the same way for the illegals in a lotta cases, the employers charging way more then hes actually paying out. This has been the case in almost every constuction outfit i have ever been involved with. I guesse what Im trying to say is hard work might be rewarded but the one doing its not always the one being rewarded
