When the topwater bite is on! On your way to your favorite fishing hole. Tie a buzzbait to your vehicle and drive to your spot! The idea is that without water to lubricate the blade it will wear the hole out a tad bigger. Then, once you get it in the water, you will notice that the blade turns much more easier! Plus the bait will get on the surface quicker, and might even have more noise! It looks silly, but it does work! Now you will know when I drive past you! LOL!

Re: Post bass fishing tips here

I prefer live bait especially if I want to have a more relaxing fishing experience...two or three snags and I lose my temper.

I've had good luck fishing for largemouths wih a simple setup....

rowboat, area of weeds over deeper water during overcast, warm days, a hook, and a leech. Makes for some relaxing fishing...and those boys love leeches!

use some spinnerbait with a shiny spinner and run it along the top. let it stop and sink for a while then keep reeling it in

I gotta tip that will help you catch more bass, heck more fish period. Give the BANJO MINNOW's a try, I have used them for about 5 years or so and have caught many bass on them. You can pick up a 180 pc kit at Bass Pro for 20 bucks now, pretty cheap for something that will catch you alotta fish. It also comes with a starters DVD to show you how to work them. They are by far my favorite bass lure. Well good luck.

Hey man I'm the same way I'de rather sit in a tree stand in the freezing cold all day than fish for 30 min. and not have a bite... BUT one thing I have learned though that works are the booyah spinnerbaits any color any size they are the best. you can fish them anytime any element and still catch fish and the best thing is you don't loose very many fish at all with them. They are the 22 of fishing you can do anything with them... happy hunting and fishing best of luck brother

Re: Post bass fishing tips here

well i cant catch bass too good in the winter, but all other seasons i can do pretty well. im not a pro obviously and the biggest bass i ever caught was

5 lbs 1 Oz. however, i do know a little from all the BASSMASTER magazines ive read. when they start to spawn (65 degrees water temp/ first full moon of April) texas rigged lizards, weightless tiki sticks, and texas rigged tubes are hard to beat. watermelon seed, pumpkin seed, cotton candy, june bug, salt and pepper, tequila sunrise, and chartreuse are all really good colors. after the spawn (post-spawn) carolina rigged floating lizards are awesome. so is a jig-and-pig or jig-and-twin-tail combination. after post spawn when the eggs have hatched (fall) the bass eat anything and everything. they will be moved down a little deeper (6-12 feet) around stumps and brush. spinnerbaits, lizards, crankbaits, brushhogs, jigs, tubes, worms, grubs. just about anything as long as you try till u find the right colors. in summer when its really hot (especially in Oklahoma when it gets up to 107) they move a lot deeper around points and deep cover such as dropoffs and underwater stumps. this is when crankbaits are the best. firetiger or black and gold are awesome summer colors. bump the structure and underwater cover. rattle traps work pretty good to but you gotta let em sink real good before you start reeling. the 5 lb 1 oz bass i mentioned earlier, i caught it in the summer on a 105 degree day with a carolina rigged black lizard with a blue tail. carolina rigs work good in the summer with fry worms and lizards. and i also forgot to mention my favorite spawn/post-spawn bait. it is a Storm Wildeye live sunfish. it is a swim bait that represents a little perch. bass will get mad and strike it because perch will eat the bass eggs so it is especially good in post-spawn when the bass are watching over their unhatced eggs. well thats some good tips i know for catching bass. hope ya have good luck!

Be careful when "tuning" those buzzbaits! I was rolling down the highway one day going about 70 with my arm stuck out the window holding a buzzbait when the blade came off. It peeled most of the hide off of one knuckle! crazy.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! Sorry not laughing at you! I was wondering if anybody else ever did this! wink.gif I usually tie them off with some light wire, somewhere that they will not bang against the vehicle or fly into another vehicle incase they come off!

Its been a while since I read this post, thought I would read them again! blush.gif

i also remembered this.. i have had some of my best bass fishing success in the pouring down rain. run a spinner bait just under the surface of the water. i have done this many times and have caught lots of 2 and 3 pound bass.

Bass are nocturnal. Fish for them at night. All my biggest largemouth bass have been caught at night. Go to your favorite bass pond around 9:00 pm. On calm nights use topwater lures. Big jointed black Jitterbugs, Heddon Torpedos, floating black and silver Rapalas and such work awsome. Fishing does not get much more exciting for me when a big bass-o-matic slams a topwater on a quiet night.

A common mistake is using too heavy of a line. You'd be surprised at what a difference 2-4 lbs lighter on your line makes. It also makes it more fun knowing that you can't just muscle a fish in. It takes a little more skill catchin 5-6 lb bass on a 4-6lb test line than it would usin a 10-12 lb line.

Switchin lures for some people is like asking them to saw off their own hand. They just won't do it. But, for those of you who are up for trying new things, CHATTERBAITS!! They are fairly new and a lot of people haven't noticed them yet. From one outdoorsmen to the rest, I swear by them and hardly use anything but.
