Re: favorite gun of choice?

I prefer my 25-06 Remington ADL (the old wood style) it is toped with an old weaver 4-16x44 and likes the 115grain whinchester ballistic silvertips. Of the 15 or so deer I have shot with it I havent had one go over 60 yds.

Re: favorite gun of choice?

My favorite gun hands down for hunting deer is my Remington Model Seven SS in .243 Win. I hunt in a group of about 10 or so men and am the only woman. The first few years I got picked on for having this little gun that was half their guns' sizes and shot a smaller caliber than them. They no longer pick on me about my gun and infact want to buy my gun from me, but I won't sell it. I could easily have traded or sold my gun for a Remington Model 700 in .270 Win, but didn't wish to part with my gun. I will use this gun for deer as long as it keeps firing.

I outshoot every person in our hunting group and the butcher loves me because I damage the least amount of meat out of everyone in the group with their big .30-06 guns. I've harvested four deer with this gun. Three of the four deer were harvested with single shots (200+ yards broadside 40-50lb fawn from laying position with bipods, 200+ yards facing and slightly quartering 180lb doe from standing position freehand, and 100+ yards broadside 100lb button buck from kneeling position resting on my knee). The fourth deer I shot at 100- yards broadside, but it took a step so I single lunged the deer and once she ran about 100 yards from where I shot her I quickly gave her a followup shot to stop her from running any further away out of my view. She would have died from the first shot, but I don't like letting my deer get out of my view on public land. Leads to people shooting my deer and then a big debate on who gets the deer.

wats your favorite gun when it comes to whitetails?

Here in Indiana, we are restricted on equipment use for Deer. Therefore my favorite gun is my Browning Gold Deer Hunter in 20 gauge, have a 2-7 power Leupold shotgun scope on it. Now for Ky Deer Hunting I like to use my Ruger M-77MKII in .270 Win. and it has a Redfield wideview 3 to 9 power scope. I use my T/C Black Diamond .50 M/L for both States.

I love the Weatherby .257 Magnum. My dad, sister and I all shoot them. We have shot TONS of deer with them and the knockdown power is excellent! 3300-3400 fps out of a deer rifle is pretty decent huh? Some of you may have saw this pic already.......but here are 3 Weatherby .257's on the opening day of South Dakota's East River Rifle Season.....I just let the picture talk for itself!! wink.gif Weatherby has some amazing calibers......hopefully you guys can check them out sometime!
