How often do you shoot with your broadheads?

Just curious how often you guys practice with your broadheads? I start with them about a month to a month 1/2 before the season starts. I will shoot a couple before then but mostly stick to practice tips. I have guys at work who dont shoot them at all, I always tell them they should.

After any change in my bows setup(new sight, rest adjustment, etc...) and sporadically during the last 3 months before the season opens. The last month I'll shoot them every trip to the range which is 3-5 times a week. They have targets designated just for Broadheads which we move around to different distances and have little competitions between ourselves.

I am going to start using G5 Montecs this season and I have a practice head to use. I am still going to use a real one though.

I like to shoot my broadheads prior to season regardless if the package says "flies indentical to a field tip"

You owe it to the game you hunt to make sure your equipment is as accurate as it can be!!

I started shooting G5's last year and I really liked them. I bought the stone and sharpener to keep them sharp.

i shoot grim reapers and they shoot EXACTLY like my field tips...so i usually wait until a week or two before....like tominator said...tears up the target to much

I had some "Reapers" too and they do fly great don't they! One of the most accurate mechanicals on the market!!! No o-rings or rubber bands and can be shot as a mechanical or a fixed broadhead!!!

Just before the season opens for me too, just to make sure they are flying as true as my fieldtips.

Sometimes I'll find that there is one or two arrows that just aren't flying true with the broadheads on them, so I'll mark them with tape and put them aside.

I shoot my broadheads year round, especially when I do my daily shooting sessions. Yup, it wears out targets quicker than field points....but I KNOW exactly where they'll hit at the moment of truth.

I also shoot a few broadhead 3D tournaments around the state. Makes it fun.

I tune (if necessary) with broadheads set up exactly the way they will be for hunting. So with Muzzy's, I have hunting blades in them. Then I shoot them occassionally, maybe onces a week, with the practice blades. Then I shoot them before every afternoon hunt with the same blades I used for tuning. They are still the same weight and shape as the razor blades for hunting, but they are dulled so they are slightly safer.

I shoot Muzzy broadheads. They come with the target heads. They are weighted the same as the broadheads and fly the same. And they don't "chew" the target up no where's near as bad as the broadhead!

I've been slacking so far this year. I would like to at least get out and shoot a couple times a week. There just isn't enough time in the day.

I have only one practice broadhead that I shoot just before the season. I use mechanicals and I find no difference in their flight.

What kind of bow do you have Swampy? confused.gif

I've got two bows, so I have my hunting set-up only on broadheads (MUzzy 75's) and I pretty much shoot it off and on all year. I take it groundhog hunting during the off season and practice shooting them as well in my targets. I've got an old Mackenzie Elk hindquaters that is an awesome broadhead target and has taken hundreds of hits so far.

I get mine going a couple weeks before season. Actually right after 3d ends is when i re zero for broadheads. I shoot muzzys, so after blades get too dull to hunt with they are practice blades. I shoot each bh until I know it is hitting right and then put fresh blades on and put it in the quiver.
